Any word on the story coming out about the OU coaches ripping Jefferson to the NFL scouts and causing his draft status to slip?
Just wanted some inside scoop other than what was being reported on the sports animal. Thanks

Let me guess coming out of the one & only Jim Trabloids big mouth!!Go Sooners!
It's still unclear if this story is true or not. I'm not saying it is, but if they ask Schmitty about a player, he's not going to sugar coat it.

There's no way any coach on the OU staff would do that. Tony is well liked by the coaches and his teammates and highly respected for his ability. That said, if a general manager, pro scout, etc. asks about the weaknesses of any player, OU has to be forthcoming or lose credibility. And that credibility is critical when promoting a player's positive qualities. Every player has at least some weaknesses, but Tony has more than enough abilities to attract pro teams and you can be certain the OU staff has made those abilities clear to all interested parties.
this will be interesting to see how this rumor plays out. TJ is all over his twitter feed and he's not happy & he seems to be aiming it towards our coaches not liking him.
lets wait for the TRUTH to come out before choosing a side and esp saying things like theres no way....that way if the rumors are true, you dont look foolish
Agreed but what about the credibility of the scout/organization who would leak what should be private information. Pretty crappy of them but not surprising. People like King, Mortenson, Glazer, Gammons Olney make a living off important "sources" who feel the need to gossip like school girls.
The comments I read questioned his work ethic and weight room. I don't buy it because you don't get on the field without a work ethic. Unless it's true for some and not for others like Roy Finch.
I don't buy it. I'd like to see a rumor spreader like that reveal the scout and the scout reveal the coach. It's easy to say, "a scout said..."
This is a business, and that's no way anyone would run a business.
If someone used Jefferson's own statements about worrying that the dreaded workout regimen would cause him injury if he came back for his senior year, then that's fair play, but still not something a coach would say if he didn't want to get fired or run the program out of business.
In fact, this isn't just a business, it's a Big Business, probably the biggest and most public in the state. Starting such a rumor that Jefferson himself would believe is something that needs to be run to ground. If, in fact, someone in authority made such a remark, he should be fired either for saying it or for failing to guard its privacy. After all, our players are more important than pro football. We have to coach them, not pimp them to the League. We have to show generosity to our players before honesty to the pros. We don't work for the pros. Our attitude toward them should be that we're glad to provide them players and a clear way to evaluate our players, but we sure don't do their work for them. We're in business for the fans and the program; and those both depend on getting good players, not satisfying any supposed obligation to Pro Football.
Tony Jefferson was a pearl on our team for three years. He made a few bad plays, more stunning for our expectations of him. He owes us nothing. We owe him that pearls not be seen thrown before swine.

...or you could just do like the LSU S&C coach and post player names on your office window!!! Now that's transparency!!!
I agree with this very much. This was very well said.
Hey, truth hurts sometimes.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
Strange that TJ would host so many recruits if he was less than ideal as a player.
The two best professional rookies in 2010 and both from Oklahoma City,Oklahoma.
I am not the least bit upset to see the departure of the "Cali Swag" posse. Brennan has been the best team mate of all of them and has never seemed to worry about himself so glad he's with us for another year. I always saw the exact opposite in KS and TJ. Stills routinely gave up on plays during the 11 season and never really seemed to take a leadership role. Good luck to both of them and I hope they have successful careers.

And then LSU had 10 juniors declare for the draft......
I will add this. If Tony was bad enough to trash and missed workouts all the time and had a bevy of excuses then that is one thing. But don't play him. But the bottom line is until some sort of chemistry returns to this program between the coaches, players, and support staff good luck. Trent Williams,MK,and now TJ leaving the program hating it is definitely not what you want. These kids are way to high profile. Damaging to the program. I am not blaming the coaches for the players shortcomings just not getting the best end result for the program. TJ was a fence for whatever reason needed mending and you need to repair those relationships before they leave one way or another. Instead these seem to explode.

I just CAN'T imagine why Tony Jefferson would have issues with Mike Stoops and his schemes this past year.
I love Coach Mike and I really hope he gets things turned around, but running man to man 100% of the time this past year at a major college program was absolutely ridiculous and I'm sure contributed to Tony Jefferson feeling like he needed to leave and probably caused some uneasiness.
Give me one example where Stills gave up on a play.
