I don't thiink UTEP played their amaziing running back this week. Without him, I can't believe UTEP scored.
MIzzou and A&M were psyched, they were at home, it was a perfect situation for both to break into the SEC and have people take them seriously. They could not have scripted a better situation for their first game in the SEC. Up against a less than stellar Florida team and a good but not great Georgia team. As usual, A&M took a lead and looked great in the first half.
We just saw Missou and A&M at their best in terms of SEC play. A&M will be lucky to beat Ole Miss, they lose the rest. ( I haven't actually looked at their schedule)
Missou will get beat by South Carolina, Florida, Tenn and probably others.
Next Step- We fight for the top recruits in both Missou and Texas with the other SEC teams. It's all down hill for A&M and MIssou from here.
How many passing yards did WYOMING have on Texas last week?
We'll see just how good Texas defense is (or isn't) when they play somebody. I'm reserving judgment of OU until after the KSU game.
Right now i would vote for the K-State defense over texas. They kicked the U.
Ok we'll play your silly little game.....
Texas allows Wyoming 17 pts at home. beating them by 20 (this week Wyoming lost to Toledo at home)
Texas allows New Mexico (1-11 last year and 100+ in the NCAA in pretty much every offensive category) 0 points at home.
OU plays UTEP (the predicted Conf USA championship contender) on the road and holds them to no offensive points...
OU plays FAMU at home and allows in essence 10 points (the other three came from a fumble, no gains and a kicked FG for FAMU)
So in a road game and a home game the OU defense has allowed 10 points. In two home games UT has allowed 17 points... How is UT's defense so arbitrarily the best defense in the Big 12??
OH and as a PS: Jeffrey, the UTEP RB who WAS their offense in the first half vs OU did not play vs Ole Miss. Lets see how the Texas D plays in a road game against a mediocre team (dead last in the SEC).

....and Sooner City is one if the reasons I HATE this 'blended' board!!
"Well...that oughta hold 'em for the next decade or so..." - Barry Switzer
The player responsible for all of UTEP's points vs, OU DNP and UTEP on road vs. home.
Wow, one player makes or breaks UTEP.
Then leave dudette. If you disagree with someone your panties get in a bunch?

Riddle me this batman, Who does have the best defense in the big 12? If you say any team besides OU, the board will throw a hissy fit and gang up on a poster. How classless has OU fans became, some anyways.
I concur, good observations. I have not seen Texas yet, but I bet you they still "suck" now matter how you view it.
When you look at the big picture of college football since 1936, no program has achieved greatness as consistently as Oklahoma - ESPN.
Nah, there just playin' vanilla. Isn't that always the Sooners excuse?
Sooner fans anyway.
K-State is the best coached team in the country .
What? Bob Stoops walks on water!
I thought you would be sober this morning.
Yep. That and playing on the road vs. home. Nice to see you have some learning agility. You learned half of what I taught you. Nice job!
Not batman but based on 2 weeks of results I'd say TCU and then OU.
I guess he could be like you and challenge people to a fight via PM. Hypocrite.
We still have problems on both lines of scrimmage. I don't see us winning on the road in Big 12 unfortunately. I don't think there is anyone injured and/or suspended that is magically going to make us better. I think we've found the best punt returner in quite a while in Brown. If we don't make significant improvement in the lines, K-State, ND and oSu can be potential losses at home as well. Williams is the real deal but against better teams I'm not sure he'll be get open as much. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think this team will be anywhere near it was ranked at the beginning of the season, at the end of the season.
Too early to tell. Ask me in about 6 weeks. I'd say Kansas ST has the most impressive league win with their destruction of the Canes so far. Statistically, I think it's TCU, OU, then Texas so far, but again, nobody has played anyone yet. I love what our secondary is doing so, but the jury is still out on our front 4. If we get Walker and McGee back, which would allow King to shift back to d-end (where I think he would dominate), we might be right up there.
I will say it's not OSU.
I love that little "ignore" button. Bye, bye Sooner City.
Fair question. I dont think the responders to your post 100% disagreed with the idea. Texas may well have the best D in the league, what I think folks were reacting to was the fact that after 2 relatively unimportant, mismatch games, you were definitively (in capitals) crowning them the best in the conference with NOTHING really to back the statement up with... I believe it is much too early to say... but if you want my 2cents now I'd say:
You have to give KSU credit for just owning Miami
Also, for ISU to go into Iowa City and dominate Iowa defensively was strong.
Texas has alot of proven talent returning... also..
WVU, TCU and OU all have the capability of having the top D.
Agree, my rank of defenses as of today:
K-State (Usual hard nosed team, will fly around and hit you in the mouth. Arthur Brown is good but how does Snyder do it with all these other 2 stars?)
Texas (Has given up some big pass plays, thought they would get more pressure with their DL. Only gets the edge over OU because of intensity)
OU (Has given up some in the run game, secondary looks to be on the right track)

Big 12 Best Defense's: (1) TEXAS
(2) KANSAS STATE
(4) TEXAS TECH
As of 9/13/12
In my opinion.
given the level of competition, only a Texas fan would be that adamant about Texas' D after watching KSU dominate Miami as they did. No one else in the conference has had the opportunity to have their Defense tested.
IMO the coaches are holding back, putting it all on the line--wehave a lot of games to play and want to hold some of the arsnal in check for later.
