Under preforming . Not meeting expectations. Same excuses year after year. Getting embarrassed on national TV by a bunch of also rans. Recruiting in the dumps.
Will Bob man up and make the changes necessary or will he let this bunch of underpreforming coaches cost him his job. They have already cost him his respect.
You are correct in that the Sooner Nation is not happy. I however don't think that firing half the staff is the answer. Hopefully this off season the coaches and players take a big, deep look at themselves and correct their short-falls. When the staff has changes, the relationships that were built amongst the players and coaches, deteriorates.
I am not a fan of looking bad in games, but i am willing to give another year to see if our players and coaches can improve their work ethic and mentality. Jamal Brown really gave me some good insite on the situation at hand(listening to his call on The Rush). I am betting my chips that when coaches and players hear Jamal's phone call...attitudes will be changed.
if they have to have j. brown tell them the problem........................then it's worse than i thought
I'm sorry but you are going WAY overboard. Cost him "his respect?" Surely you jest! That's the biggest pile of crap I've read on here in awhile. Performance needs to change granted. D Line and O Line are the issues- also LBs.
I think getting embarassed in Bowl games & in certain conference games & not looking prepaired at all with zero ajustments,is starting to grind on some of us fans.Go Sooners!!!
"Getting embarrassed on national tv by a bunch of also rans." Surely you don't consider A&M, Notre Dame, and K-State also rans. If you mean the defense was embarrassed by WV, Baylor and OSU - they sure were, but I would not consider those teams also rans. WV was not a good team but Austin was a very good player. Probably not as good as we made him look, but he should have an NFL career as a return man. I do agree that our defense was both embarrassed and embarrassing, as bad as I can remember at OU. I don't understand why our coaches have now "seen the light". It blinded all us fans all year, especially the last half of the year.
Sooner Nation is flat out PO'd!
I look for Bob to really get into some one on ones with certaint coaches.
Some have just not recruited well, or coached good enough!
You won't see much change, but you might next season, 10 wins and a lame share of a conference championship won't get too many coaches fired?
I expect OU to really struggle defensively in 13, if Shipp and Kish pull a miracle then all is good.
Patton has depth and experience to be a hero for once, but you still have to run the football!
didnt we hear this last year. what is it now....double final probation
surely you dont thinbk josh heuple is going to take us to the promised land. I bet coaches all over america are laughing he cant even get a play called in even when we are running the belldozer. the reason is he just doesnt know what to do

I thought took a big, deep look at themselves last year and the year before?
I am getting tired of the same old song and dance every year at this time. Why is the answer 'let's give them another year' it seems the main response and approach used by the coaching staff each and every year. The situation was a mess this time last year and Coach Stoops did make some coaching changes but the changes (obviously) did not work. Either the coaching changes were bad, play calling and scheming is wrong, or the teaching methods need to be revised. If it is the players than who recruited them?
To me the problems (and solutions) are mostly coaching related. Some coaches need to get out of their easy chairs and get that fire back in their bellies again. I don't want to be having this same level of frustration again in January 2014 as the past few years.

Could you tell me when this happened?

The mood of the Sooner Nation? Perhaps it’s because I’m old now and these things don’t get to me like they used to, but I can’t describe this member of the Sooner Nation as unhappy or POd. Disappointed for sure. Apprehensive about our recruiting and the 2013 season? Absolutely. But anger? Nope. Can’t do it.
This doesn’t mean I am not the passionate, loyal OU fan I’ve always been, or that I’ve become content with the status quo. Not at all. I used to live and die OU football. The highs were euphoric and the Iows abysmal. I still love to attend games and still scream at the TV enough to chase the dog outside. I still look forward to season openers more than any other day of the year. Nothing else comes close.
The fire burns as bright as it ever did; it just no longer consumes me.
My nephew, an aTm grad, tweeted me a taunt as I was leaving JerryWorld the other night and was promptly issued an “Argo!” in return. If you saw the movie you get it. I never will take that kind of crap well, even from a beloved family member.
I reserve my anger these days for things that truly deserve it, such as the massacre of seven-year-old children in Connecticut.
Whatever is wrong with the football program – and I’ve voiced my theories – will eventually be fixed by our coaches. Or it won’t be. Or if not by these players and coaches, then others. Either way OU will always keep me cheering myself hoarse and craving more.
Some may call it settling. I call it perspective. It took me years to get here, but I think it’s a good place to be. Boomer Sooner!!

how about WV when 1 player had over 500 yds.......baylor when we won RG3 the heisman
aTm, a team we put 41 points on last year and this year we get shut out the 2nd half
okie lite last year
TT last year at HOME
I have been a big supporter of the coaches and players up to a couple of months ago and still want to be but I have to admit I have lost faith in his ability to make whole sale changes not necessarily to the coaching staff but everything, I do respect him as a man and representative of the University. I was one of the guys that said always have faith in him as he will do what is needed to stay at the top and just do not see that happening.
Bob is not going to do squat!!!!
Say what you mean, mean what you say!!!
We beat WV. A 10-3 Baylor team that was led by RG3 and finished the season on a six-game winning streak is not an also-ran. A&M this season certainly was not an also-ran, and it's absurd that you dub them as such.
The Tech loss last season, I'll give you. But upsets happen. They happened under Switzer, they happen sometimes under Coach Stoops, and they'll happen under our next great coach, whomever he may be.
You can keep on gnashing your teeth and rending your garments over a 10-3 season if you like; me, I've found a kindred spirit in Vlad. He comes off as more sane and reasonable in his post above than all the Chicken Littles dominating this board of late, and I couldn't agree with him more.
I'm with you Vlad. I guess it's because I'm getting older and see things differently now days. I still rant and rave and scream at the t.v. during games but I sit back down and remind myself that it's only a college football game and not life and death. I still slip up now and then and make posts that I shouldn't from time to time. I think that everyone should remember that these games are played by student, I repeat student/athletes who are very young men and have an incredible work load put on them even during the so called off season.
I've had friends in Iraq and Afgahanistan (sp), who were facing real life and death situations. Thank god they made it back safely save for one who lost both legs. And you're right about the children in Conn. may God bless them and their families.
letting the cupboard go bare while mighty texas tech whups up at home, okie lite runs all over us, WV has 1 player gain over 500 yds on us, aTm shuts us out in the 2nd half. Repeat shuts us out in the 2nd half, little johnny outgains the whole OU team all by himself while BGB tells us he got outcoached again.
That may be good enough for you little girls, but I think it stinks like you just po po'ed in your pants.
Very mature sober response. Just what we have come to expect from our hysterical fan base.
Great post. I'm in the same place.
We did beat wv and if you were happy with how we played that game then good for you but there are those of us who have come to expect that OU play defense and not look like a pee wee team when we attempt it.
As for the "upsets" in three of the last four years OU has lost a game by at least 28 points. The harp seals that are clubbed in the heads put up more of a fight than we did in those games. OU should NEVER be beat that poorly and it sure as hell shouldn't be happening on a consistent basis.
Hell, that's great coaching!!!!
I'm happy. Life is good. Recruiting is going to be better than it might appear today; we will retool the offense and, yes, I have confidence Josh and Norvell can do that; and we will win next year. The trolls on this board who pretend to care and pretend to be OU fans will have less to complain about and that makes me happy.
Barely beating OSU and WVA, Barry Switzer called it Sooner Magic and most of you believed him. 2013 you're pissed off. LOL
