The Sooners bowl opponents more than likely are down to Florida in the Sugar, Oregon in the Fiesta, or Texas A&M in the Cotton. Now, the question is, out of those three teams who would be the best match-up for the Sooners.
I think Florida would be the best match-up because offensively they aren't explosive, and I think OU could make them one-dimensional. Yes i know they are very good in the trenches, but I think OU could put 7-8 in the box and feel comfortable enough with their secondary to make plays in the passing game. Defensively, Florida is really good, but they may have trouble with OU spreading it out. The question would be if OU could run the ball on them. It would be tough for the Sooners to establish a consistent running game against the Gators.
The blueprint for beating Oregon is great defensive line play and winning the line of scrimmage. OU could score on Oregon but it would be tough for the Sooners to slow down the Ducks offensive attack
Texas A&M offers the same challenge. Johnny Manziel is one of the most exciting players in football, and to make him make mistakes you must get pressure on him. That's easier said than done considering how good the Aggies are on the offensive line. If the Sooners couldn't contain Manziel, he would run wild.

No chance of LSU in the Cotton?
I honestly think they end up in the Capital One but that's just my opinion. I think the Cotton really wants A&M and a possible match-up with Texas.
All 3 would be tough games with OU not favored in any of them. But I agree with the OP that Florida would give up the best chance to win.
I gotcha...that makes sense. There are a lot of people here in Texas that want to see that matchup. I think TAMU will destroy UT if they play.
All the A&M fans that I know have been told they are going to the Capital One bowl?
I'd be surprised if they went to the Capital One.
I'll take the Gators. Of the three, they're the most offensively challenged and the best bet to be contained by our defense.
I'm not sure we could run the ball well on any of these teams, but we've shown the last two games we can score big even without a strong run game.
I am the morning DJ on WOLD
Also hearing that a&m will go to the capital one and lsu in the cotton. I think lsu might be our best chance to get a bowl win although they are similar to Florida. I do not think ou wants to match up against Oregon this season.
The A&M fans don't really want to go to a bowl game in Texas....they would rather go to Florida (Orlando). My A&M friends are pretty well connected and they say Capital One.
I'd love to get the gators.
Playing the gators in the sugar would be a great way to finish the season, and beating them would give the program a pr boost that I think it needs after the loss to the irish.
Florida would be awesome.
Funny u say that tyler. But I think ou should consider doing same thing to many teams. 7-8 in box. But use lb's. On 3 and 10 leave the lbs out there and see if we hold them.

I like Oregon! OU and Oregon have been the two biggest offensive powers since 08 and it only seems right to have them find out who's the better.
"With Nebraska trying to leave, we felt like we needed to send them out with a loss, and we did." -Ryan Broyles-
I just don't see a win against any of these teams.
OU wouldn't be able to run, and our defensive front is inconsistent at best.
ND took our run game away, and UF and LSU have defenses that are even more athletic?
I just don't think Oregon is a good match up for OU at this time.
I just don't believe in our defensive front four.
ND's front 7 is better than any team in the nation, including UF and LSU. Not saying we would have any more success, but I can't imagine it being any worse.
Oregons defense sucks and I like OU's chances of out scoring them. They only managed 14 against Stanford who isn't even in the same ball park as NDs front 7. Oregon would be a very favorable matchup for OU IMO. Also UF is offensively challenged and OU would not need to run to beat them just protect Jones and OU has a very good chance to win.
errr, what if Ou doesNOT beat TCU ...and Texas beats KSU??
i mean Fiesta has to take KSU as they would still be conference champs with tie breaker....
and i just think the Cotton wants Tx-TAM
would OU drop to the Alamo bowl or something like that?
i might as well worry about that, stuck with the flu for a couple of days having to watch Big Least then the MACKY League games.
oh please, let OU win and KSU lose.
i think OU has as good a shot at Oregon, maybe better than Florida...oregon's had some recent injuries, see about the time of the Stanford loss, and karmically we would win (lol). Florida, who knows, I think Ou would strugggle to get more thadn 3 tds but give up 4 plus. I also think OU could take Johnny Football's team. just feels like OU beats TAM, even with a qb who's made some ridiculous plays, call it OU as an underdog in all three....of these games.
If I made this statement, I would have been downvoted at least 10 times! The hypocracy of this board!! I do however think we can beat florida... not a& m and esp not oregon
Our O line will get a chance to rest and heal over the holiday break as will Damien. We will run the ball better in the bowl than we have the past few weeks.
Damien has not been the same since he hurt his ankle against ND. I still think that was the biggest coaching blunder of the season...getting Williams hurt against ND down 17 with 2 minutes to go. Has cost since that game. I really like what Brennan has done for us, his run against OSU ranks up there with any play in recent history, but when healthy Williams brings another dimension to the table.
As for bowls...we need to win Saturday and have Kent State lose (is that a Friday game?). While I don't wish for us to fall in status, I would be perfectly fine as a fan making the trip to San Antonio.
I read an article in (I think) a texas paper that said the Cotton bowl doesn't want an aTm / Texas matchup, especially if they lose the KSU.

I agree with you 100%. I live in Oregon and watch their games stop the run and their dead.
