Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It is already tomorrow in Australia. - charles m Schulz
No surprise but he's correct. Manning will announce for A$M. I think OU will continue to recruit him but A$M is on a roll right now.
Good riddance. Now let's hope the coaches can recruit some players who can actually perform on and off the field in a manner worthy of being a Sooner.
OU has slow played so many guys that it's going to be hard to get anyone that we really want.
On other sites these recruits have been saying it doesn't look like OU is recruiting them very hard. If you're hoping for more DB's, we should be ok. If you want big boys, probably not going to happen.
..........well, at the end of the day, good luck to the kid......................now, who's next to fret about?
I am the morning DJ on WOLD
Wonder how James spins this one .
Let me spin it for you. We lost a kid we wanted and thought we had a good shot at. It happens. Life goes on.
I'm not happy either, but we move on.
Would not be surprised to see Dimon, 6' 4", 255, grow into a DT once at OU. If his weight is correct he a very big HS DE.
He has had you on ignore since Dec 1.
Yeah Shipp has become so lazy that we basically go after 1 or 2 of the top DL in the country and if they don't work out, we've slow played everyone else so bad that we end up having to go after projects that the non DL coaches have at least kept in contact with based of of their assigned region. OU isn't playing for the NC this year because our DL and LB recruting over the last few years has been 1. wrong (see small weak LB's) 2. Lazy (see OK DL who are starting and kicking our ass at TCU and OSU).
I think hiring Mike S. will correct the LB issue but Shipp is fat happy and lazy at recruiting DL and I have told him that to his face. Shipp spends more time haggling for his new free car from Jackie Cooper than he does recruiting DL. If OU would pay me 5k per year I'd be able to sell the top DL on why OU should be their top choice. With OU's history of DL and LB's it would be the easiest sales job I've ever had.

It's not nearly as easy as you think it is.
Really? I'm #1. An ex coach 2. Sell to millionaire business owners who think that they are Gods on a daily basis.I compete against reps who are in markets like NY and LA and I still double their quotas. #3 Selling a HS kid on OU's tradition, specifically at the DL position would be a the easiest sell I've ever made. Especially if I was paid 20K+ per month drive a BMW at no cost and all of my expenses where paid. My current territory is larger than what Shipp covers and I pay my own expenses. I'd sell Shipp's ass into the ground and it would be a simple task. I also know DL technique and I guarantee than you're smart enough to be tought every tequnique that Shipp knows within the equivalent of 1 "workshop" at your current job. While our coaches are paid very well, their job isn't even close to being as hard as someone in the real world. We put OU coaches on a pedistool but the fact is that being a high paid NCAA coach is more about who you know and riding coat tails than anything. There are class A coaches who know far more about the entire game of football than a lot of D1 head coaches. I sat in a coaching clinic with Mike Stoops where the coach of Tonkawa had his head spinning (those where Mike's words). You probably don't know who the coach of Tonkawa is because he never played D1 and isn't part of some coaches good old boy circle but he's a better at overall football knowlede than Bob Stoops. Fact is that OSU's and TCU's DL coaches are better at hustling for recruits and evaluating talent than Shipp weather you think I could out sell Shipp or not. DL technique isn't brain surgery and as a matter of fact is less complicated than teaching wood shop. It's just football.
It's not that easy.
