Who are OUr best chances of getting now?
I don't think we lead for anyone. No hs DT have us in the lead Bain II think is our only hope for a HS. Juco we have around three toby johnson who will not play next year because of a knee injury ben bradley who is committed to Tennessee and Quincy Russell who is probably our best shot of signing but still has Nebraska and someone else that he likes
It is truly baffling that these kids can't see the chance to play immediately and become a star player in a power program. People want to hammer the coaches for the recent situation, but the kids have to be a bit more logical than it appears has been happening.
I could care less about the "S-E-C! S-E-C!" thing. Plenty of kids have come through OU and become All-Americans and NFL standouts on the D-Line in my lifetime. It's not like there's not an opportunity there...
NWSooner, then what is the issue? Give me your insight please. 95% of the folks on here think recruiting is going swimmingly. Things are peachy keen, just ask James.
Hate to say it but it's about time to start pointing the finger at Coach Shipp. One or more of the following things are occurring...1. He's failing to land top quality players at DT...2. He or our staff are not evaluating the recruits we are getting accurately...or 3. JS is failing to develop the DT's we are signing.
I love JS for the simple fact he's from Stillwater and had the intelligence to see there was a greater opportunity south of "home" and he jumped at the chance. But recently we've struggled at his position.
I truly hope he lands some of the other kids we're trying to sway. If not OU is gonna be disappointing at DT and/or he might be looking for another job...which I would personally hate to see happen.
The offensive and defensive line recruiting is certainly baffling.
No problem with the down vote as we all have the right to our opinion. Curious to hear a rebuttal? Although I rarely post, from what I've read I think most have agreed DT has been a position that needs upgrading? If so I think at least one of the three points I posted must be accurate.
I'm certainly not calling for Coach Shipp's resignation as I've always thought he was a valuable member of our staff. Just imagine what people would be saying about JH had our QB thrown 12 TD's and 10 INT's. This site would be over ran with demands for a new OC.
Hopefully we'll score a few difference making DT's in the near future. Then all of this discussion will be a mute point!
lets see, he didnt recruit a single DT last year and so far, not a single DT this year. Thats 2 years in a row with no DT ?
Patton tops that .....he got 1
It is becoming an issue fast. Vault is right it's about to get really thin. Anyone think the fact that the big boys are being asked to take 50-60 snaps per game due to the type of offenses we face and the type we run ourselves has anything to do with it?
