I think so...
One thing that people are forgetting about the preseason number 1, USC (at least in some polls) is that at the Defensive Tackle position they have basically one upperclassman who is a moderately talented, and they are relying on Freshman and red-shirt Freshman, and a Sophomore in their Defensive Tackle position. I know that these players for USC are highly ranked, and very talented, but they are very, very young at that important position. Maybe they can pull that off, but they are thin and young there, and in the PAC 12 that is not a good thing.
Clearly, every team in the top 10 this year has some serious flaws. And USC has theirs. It is going to be interesting. Again, they have talent in that DT position, some great athletes, but in that position I will take Juniors and Seniors any day over true freshman and red-shirt freshman who have never played one d1 game.
I think Oregon and Utah are going to make it interesting in the PAC, for sure.

You know more about USC than me, but I would think that because of years of scholarship reductions they will be paper-thin at a number of positions and must avoid the injury bug at all costs. No doubt they possess talent, but depth has to be the big concern.

Sorry. I posted almost the same post as Vlad's. His stands better than mine.

i think Oregon and someone else take them down, and they better watch it, Lane's coasted on his dad's expertise and his own personal "charisma" but i wouldnbbe surprised to Mora and the Bruins, against all odds pull the upset, OR even Leach...usc has as many bad props for dropping games to "inferior" teams as OU has lately.
Vlad, as I understand it, 2012 is the first year of scholarship reductions.. Kiffin has played this whole situation extremely well. He used the appeal process to delay the scholly reductions and will have pretty much a full team with a senior QB this year. He has also agressively red shirted kids so that he can keep the full complement of 75 kids on scholarship even though he is only allowed 15 per recruiting class for 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Next year, USC should have a pretty good dip, but all things considered, he is handling this well. By the way, I'm not a Kiffin fan and as you stated, their margin of error with injuries is almost none existent. They have no live tackling in practice.
I would love to play them for the NC.
It will be interesting to see. I think one could argue the Pac 10 has a group of good teams but only a couple of really good teams (Oregon and USC). Because of that, USC will probably run the table w/o too many problems. Yes, they could have a slip up but the Pac is down a bit.
Utah is improving and could pose a problem (doubtful though). Colorado is bottom tier. Arizona schools are down and not much of a threat. Oregon State is down. Washington schools aren't too much of a threat. Stanford and Cal are in transition but will hopefully rise to prominence in that league and are most likely poised to make the conference more credible.
USC is stockpiled with talent. I really see them with the best opportunity out of all the top schools to make it to the NC.
I will be at their opening game against Hawaii on Sat.
While I don't think it will be much of a game, I agree they are just an injury or two away from potential upset early in their schedule.
SC's weakness then, is basically the same as ours.
USC hardest game at home against Oregon with a freshman QB... So, they should walk though the season and be in the NC.
I'm hell when I'm well.. And, I am never sick!
Utah may have something to say about that at their home.
You may be right Alan, but I'm not buying into Utah they were 8-5 last year and 4-5 in the PAC 12.
"With Nebraska trying to leave, we felt like we needed to send them out with a loss, and we did." -Ryan Broyles-
Utah was my bold prediction to win the Pac 12.
I am not sold on Lane Kiffin.
We're talking about the Lane Kiffin that made it to the Sweet 16 in Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive voting?

They definitely have the players but lack moral fiber at the head coaching position.
USC will crush Utah, I know you are high on them, but their skill players won't be on the same field with USC's. The Oregon game will be a great one (Or two) but USC has more balance. How can you call a team overrated when they will be favored in every game they play?
Agree about Utah, the Ducks will be their undoing though. Oregon is no longer up and coming, they have arrived.
I just don't see Utah making it happen.. I hope Im wrong! I will be pulling for anyone playing against usc.
