This will be my 13th year to go.
Normally all my "friends" come out of the woodwork at this time of year wondering about tickets.
If I sell extras I usually get $250 or more easy, this year I sold them for $150.
I know that neither team is ranked in the top 10 for the first time in over a decade, but this game still has huge implications.
I hope the OU side is energized and rocking on Saturday, but I'm starting to wonder.
I'll do my part anyway....
YIKES ! My favorite response. (Thanks to Matteon for a good definition of meaning)
Agreed. Election is an emotional issue right now and may be a big distraction to many fans.
Agreed - in many ways this game has more riding on it than the games when both teams were in the Top 5. Why? Because whoever loses is probably finished in the Big 12 race and will fall out of the Top 20. It will be a long climb back up for the loser while the winner will still be in the heat of the conference race and could some how sneak back into the national picture depending on how the season goes. I will be there rooting on the Sooners for a 28th straight year....BOOMER!
I know I'm just a free-loader, but it just seems weird that the guy who starts a non-premium info thread can't read most of the responses.
But I'm still glad that I haven't been banished to Owen Field I suppose
Let me tell you what WEIRD really is....it's a guy that has made 853 posts to this site...yet doesn't feel he should pay...Like true insiders do! I have read some of your posts...and they are not to bad...on the other hand...I got a solution if you say "I can't afford it."....Wait until December...sell some of your food stamps....send the proceeds to James Hale% OU Insiders...just $100.00...no tipping please. Then go to all of the Christmas giveways at the churches, Salvation Army, etc. and load up on enough food ...until your next food stamps arrive. This solution only works in December. Good Luck & BOOMER SOONER!!!
I'm not real sure how to take your post, but I assure you I can afford the premium membership if I chose to.
In fact, I've been a premium member on and off over the years.
But just because I CAN afford something doesn't mean I automatically spend the money.
It's about personal value, and I really don't care that much about the premium info. I care about recruiting, but not so much that I have to know what's up before the general public finds out. I understand that the inside info is important to some people and they are willing to pay for it and that's cool - I'm thankful they do so.
I mainly come here to discuss with other Sooner fans. That actually does have some value to me, but not enough to justify the price of membership.
Heck I would pay a cheaper rate to have visibility of threads started by premium members and still be blocked from premium threads started by the staff.
So judge me how you want. I assure you that I'm not cheap, and that I'm doing OK in relation to the average Joe. But I do make financial decisions based on personal value for my money, even the small transactions.
Thanks for the advice though.
If there's anything distracting Texas fans from coming up, its Austin City Limits music festival (ACL). The idiots scheduled it over OU-Texas weekend. I guarantee, win or lose, what texas fans are coming up will all be out of Dallas by 3:30 pm Saturday.
Financial decisions?? It's a $100/year, or about $8 per month. How much thinking do you need to put into that?? And at what point would you buy in...if it was $5/month??
I'd hate to see you decide on what kind of car to purchase.......or lease I guess.
I am glad you clarified the fact that you can afford the membership fee. If I understand you (and I read your post three times)..You want a site that you can post your opinions too....and not pay anything for the cost of the site. How do you propose that this particular site can operate just for you...that is; not providing you with OU insider information....but letting you and others like you that don't want to pay for this site just post and let other posters read your posts?????????????? I am sure there would not be a site called "OU INSIDERS" if it had to operate with a non-paid staff. I suggest that you start your own "POST FREE HERE SITE" that should fit your needs. Or maybe you could persuade Brian Bishop, Publisher or 247 to customize a site for you. There are a lot of us that"WATCH OUR MONEY"also, that feel we like the insider information and the staffs close contact with the coaches and players that is not available to the general public. Thats why we feel it is worth the membership fee....WEIRD????

I agree 100% and this game means the loser is out of the big 12 and bsc.. the fans better wake the F up!
I'm hell when I'm well.. And, I am never sick!
Wow.... You read a lot into my post that I never said.
I'm well aware of how this site works and that it's a commercial endeavor. In fact, I called myself a "freeloader" did I not?
I totally understand not having access to insider info or any post by a staff member, or any reply to that post.
I also understand that as of now I'm able to post and read certain post on a "for free" basis. If you have a problem with that then YOU have something to take up with the admin I suppose.
All I meant was that it's seems a little weird that I can start a thread, and some members decide to hide their responses. I'm not even complaining, just said its a little weird that's all.
I certainly wasn't trying to start any crap.
It's about personal value to me.
Yes, it's not much at $100 per year, but I could make the same case for a lot of other goods or services that are pretty cool but not worth $100 per year to me personally.
BTW- I have no problem letting go of cash when something is personally worth it to me. Many people would think I'm nuts for how much I spend on golf for instance, but I love it. I also love Sooner football and spend a lot of money on it already, i just don't care enough about the "inside info" to pay for it.

I think both fan bases really haven't gotten over their losses this year.
and from a personal point, I have been so busy at work lately it has been difficult to get into this game. Come Saturday 11:00 AM, I think everyone will be fired up and tuned in.
The word down here in Dallas is Huge...More chatter then the last few years down here.
I don't get to head down until early tomorrow morning. Thanks for the update.
