Can we all now (even the freakin sunshine pumpers) agree that our OL, DL and LB are sadly lacking?
Coaches, will you please recruit better to fix this?

Yeah we've lost to the #2 and #3 teams in the country by literally 4 plays combined. We're sorely lacking in talent? Not In My Humble Opinion.

Nice thread title...
Well, then you would be wrong. It isn't just about losing to KSU or ND. I don't expect us to win every friggin game. I do, however, expect us to be more than competitive...and in the three positions I called out, we simply are not. Tell me, where is our All-American offensive lineman? Who is our All-American defensive lineman? Lastly, who is our All-American linebacker?
If we don't have a slam dunk AA at any of those positions, then we are lacking in talent, not to mention depth. Coach Switzer said exactly the same thing (that we are lacking the talent in the starters like we used to have). Are you going to tell him he is wrong, in your humble opinion, as well?
I didn't think so.
Ever heard of Habern and Evans? A few months ago OL was going to be one of our strenghts, things happen.
Ok, things happen. Where is the OL depth? What about the DL and/or LB positions where there were no injuries?
I don't think anyone would disagree with you that we are not great at those positions, but we solid at them. On defense two words Brent Venables! LB is clearly the weakest position on the team and that's just the truth of it. BV traded size for speed instead of a mixture of the two and as we saw Saturday again speed can't shed blocks. Mike and Kish will change this, but it's not going to happen this year and probably not next year. Dline I think is a pretty solid group, but it's major down fall is its inability to rush the passer and it made the secondary look bad Saturday, but you can't cover when the QB has all day. I think the freshman DEs and DTs have a lot of potential, but need time to develop so will see. Offensive line you ask where's the depth? It's playing now that Habren and Evans were lost before the season. The current Oline was built to pass block and they do that well, but they aren't road graders and against an NFL front they weren't going to run the ball, but they did pass block against them very well. OU is currently recruiting lineman who fit there offensive system and unless they change there system then they aren't going to change the type of lineman they recruit. Also you can't run the ball out of shotgun or pistol against good fronts it happens from under center. I agree we need to be better in these positions, but I think it's absurd to think we should have an All American at all three position every year. Hell Alabama can't even do that.
"With Nebraska trying to leave, we felt like we needed to send them out with a loss, and we did." -Ryan Broyles-
The OL obviously had depth until two starters, and another OG who was in the rotation got hurt.
Last time I looked "a loss is still a loss"no matter how you sunshine pump it!!!Go Sooners!!!!!!!!
Great reply. Now let's close this dumb thread.
No, we cannot all agree. You might consider replacing your current definition of "sadly lacking" with a more reasonable definition. Of the three units you mentioned, only the LB unit even comes close to deserving such a designation.
There are 3 better linebackers on the bench than the 2 starters.
You obviously don't know anything about football and, therefore, don't know what the hell you're talking about. Stick to soccer or whatever it is that you played back in middle school.
