Honest question. Hoping for honest, constructive discourse. With so many players leaving the program over the last few years, the lackluster play last year and carrying over into this one, the slide in our recruiting that will only get worse as our currently number 30 ranked recruiting class limps its way to national signing day in Feb, it just appears to this observer that the wheels are beginning to fall off the wagon. Does Bob have what it takes to right this ship? Does he even care? I welcome your thoughts.
we must be careful what we wish for.
i think it just comes down to lackluster recruiting. our talent level isn't on par with top teams
Yes, starting in 2002 please
It's getting old saying this but for the last 8 years I've received PM's telling me I'm right.
We will never get better, GUARANTEED!
Which one of the coaches fumbled and threw interceptions tonight? You can't come back from that many mistakes.
.......well, this may be the year for the possibility of big changes. Usually won't happen unless the season tanks with multiple losses, embarrassing losses and the deep pocket people who coughed it up for stoops have a serious talk with the powers at ou. Take a look at the rest of the schedule.........looking tougher all the time.
Which one of the coaches is the position coach for those two players? Hmmm
losing kevin Wilson really hurts!! Bob should have hired the best O C in the country.... but he elected to go with josh... thats the difference... no real sense of play action, nothing down field tonight over 15 yards, no tightend play, no reverses, just 1 screen, I mean no creativity...
No, we don't need a completely new coaching staff. I still have faith in Bob, but Bob needs to step up and demand better recruiting finishes. If Patton can't bring in our top wish list studs, he needs to go. Same thing with some of the other coaches on our team. MStoops has a number of outstanding DB's he is in on and I believe he will bring the talent level up there. Unfortunately, the biggest issues we have that I see no immediate solution with are OL, DL, LB and TE. Yes, I think TE is lacking too, but that could be more of the playcalling as opposed to the talent we have at that position.
It really is ashame that our team has sunk to this level because of our poor recruting overall, lack of depth and inconsistency on both sides of the ball.
ding ding ding.....we have a winner
So I guess we don't need coaches at all. Or do they only need to be recognized for positives.
To answer your question, Josh Heupel. He coaches Landry right? He should step onto the pocket instead of trying out his new wheels. Interception? QB coach again. If your qb can't manage a game he doesn't need to be playing. It doesn't matter how long he's been starting or how many records he holds. All those records should have Broyles name in ().
Additionally, back to the fumble. It was after an injury and they still didn't have a play in to Landry. Then after they give it to him, they change it. Loom at the frustration in Landry's face before the play. That says more than I'll ever be able to bitch about.
Now watch Klien, that's what a winning qb looks like and a qb that a team will rally behind.
I say yes it is finally time to make wholesale changes. I am getting tired of getting out coached and losing bowl games that we shouldn't. I think Bob Stoops has been great for Oklahoma but he seems to have gotten lazy imo.

Here is the winner. Nail on head. And, I'm a huge Josh Heupel fan, but, he's not ready.
Bob's first staff was outstanding. However, the replacements (his Iowa buddies) are not. This staff is getting out worked in practice, preparation, and recruiting. People can say that Bob didn't make a mistake tonight, but he was the one who was supposed to prepare the players not to make those mistakes. We have played three games and forced one turnover this year.
bob, get some balls, you had them once.
JH is not an OC!
Our OL is very very avg, make a change!
hit the recruiting trail, hard!!
"The way I figure it, everyone takes a beating..."
i am not sure he called the TO on the 2pt conversion but I blame him for that. that was bad bad coaching. we needed that TO
Which one of the coaches had 2 weeks to get his players ready but failed to do it?
I would like to see some changes on the offensive staff. Don't want the head man to go but if it did happen, the best next coach for OU is already in the Big 12 Its the one at Iowa State.
We have become Texas. Our coaches are overpaid and are resting on past accomplishments.
Bob is no longer the kid from Youngstown. Way too many recruiting mistakes and bad decisions to recruit players who aren't physical players.
this had nothing to do with the oc tonight, this was execution problems, landry has never progressed in processing info while under duress in the pocket, he had a horrible game, one that should put him on the bench, which begs to question if we have a back up ready?
We need a head coach willing the make the hard coaching changes when necessary. Bob doesn't so therefore we need a new head coach. I am tired of Stoops low expectations and excuses.
"I'm going to stay at Texas until they fire me" - Will Muschamp
I would discourage wholesale changes, but we need to take a hard look, a very hard look. I'm sure Landry is a terrific young man, but it sure appears, to the casual observer, that he is going backwards.
It looks to me that he is trying to Aim the Ball. I get the impression that Landry, and the whole team for that matter, are thinking too much.
When we get a sense of urgency and just play football, we're not half bad. But for most of the game, it seems like we are trying to outthink the other team, instead of out play the other team.
My thoughts are in line with our defense last year, we made everything so complicated. We need to dumb things down to a College Kid level so they can execute.
Sam made it look so easy when we won several in a row scoring 60+ points, I just don't know that our current QB and team can execute at that level.
You guys need to get back into getting stud Texas recruits. Your Texas recruiting has gone downhill since you decided to go more national. OU is not much of a factor in Texas top 40 type recruits.
This has benefitted schools like aggy, BU, and LSU. They are now getting the stud recruits who don't like Texas or who Texas passes on. Just my opinion.
right on, our texas recruiting hasnt been the same since 08'...........that being said, j. heupel isnt going anywhere, his married to the boren family
