Derek David, 19, arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor. Was indicted by grand jury on a previous charge of sexual assault of a child last year. Just thought OU fans may want update about this formerly recruited LB as an OU fan mentioned if OU might be interested in him again.
Was the minor 17? Cuz that's just a two year difference.
Things are rarely perfect or totally bad.
Reality=closer to the middle.
Never as bad as it seems, never as good as it seems.
According to Wikipedia...
The age of consent in Texas is 17 (Texas Penal Code Section 21.11). However, "...It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the actor...was not more than three years older than the victim and of the opposite sex...(and) did not use duress, force, or a threat against the victim at the time of the offense" and is not a registered sex offender Section 21.11 (b), Section 22.011 (e).
If she was under the age of 14, he's toast, regardless of the age difference.
Kid is in real trouble. Glad we moved on. Normally if they get in trouble in high school-college has many more temptations.
An 18 year old getting busted for romancing a 16 year old is bullshat. I would have been locked up for that too.
Yeah, I would have been locked up a few times
Seriously, 16-18, 17-19. Give me a break
Before we get too far off the reservation, a little reminder of what's been reported...
According to the police report, David asked the girl to come play video games at his aunt’s house, then allegedly forced her inside the home and sexually assaulted her.
The girl did not identify herself as David’s girlfriend. She was taken to Scott and White hospital in Temple where a test taken showed she was positive for trauma.
David admitted to having sex with the girl, and police say that he did not stop despite pleas from the girl. He was released on $20,000 bond.
Cameron: Former Local High School Player Arrested In Facebook Sting
CAMERON (September 12, 2012)—Former Rockdale High School football standout Derek Tremayne David, 19, has been charged with online solicitation of a minor/sexual conduct in an ongoing investigation of the exploitation of minors through the social media site Facebook, police said Wednesday.
Cameron officers took David into custody Tuesday, the fourth arrest in the investigation, police said.
David was free on bond at the time of his arrest on a second-degree felony sexual assault charge stemming from an incident in March 2011 involving a 16-year-old girl who said she was lured to a home to play video games and then was forced inside and sexually assaulted.
The victim told police she pleaded with her attacker to stop, but he refused.
In May 2011, David was arrested and charged with possessing drugs on campus after authorities seized a small quantity of marijuana.
He also posted bond on that charge.
David is a 6-foot, 4-inch, 225-pound junior linebacker whom several major colleges were recruiting.

He won't be playing anywhere next year, longest yard maybe?
If he is guilty it is my sincere hope a rather large man lures him to his cell and......
Yeah, if he really FORCED himself on her and ignored plea's to quit, he should be taken to the penal shed and well you know.
