They are doing their job and probably alot better than we think. I don't think all recruits say where their headed on purpose. We are acting like we all have a case of borderline personality disorder!

I figure the coaching staff has a far better grip on the needs of the team than any fan so why would they care what we think?

People are acting a bit bitter on this sight and in the last few years the coaches have come through. Norvell says gaining momentum. I don't think he would say it to pacify.
I agree. Bob has never returned any of my calls. Smart guy! Seriously, this board is for fun and interaction-not griping. It's only football. Is it important to Sooner fans? Absolutely! But it's not life and death. Enjoy the ride-I've seen many, many more good times than bad with OU football over the years. And all of this complaining after a 10-2 season and a conference co-championship. I can name about 50 schools right off the top of my head who would be making t-shirts after a season like that. Think about it.
Who ever said that the coaches care what we say or should care what we say? I'm pretty sure that Bob knows he needs to find some defensive tackles and offensive linemen. If he needs a fan to tell him that we are in a lot worse trouble than I thought!
I agree, I can think of 8 other schools in the Big 12 that would love to be co-conference champs. I have faith that the coaches will get what DT's and OT's we need. I believe next years team will be better on defense.
I'd hate to see a scrimmage between our recruits vs. those committed to USC, AL, Ohio St, and a dozen others.

ab5 probably means those verbaled to those teams so far and clearly doesnt realize they don't keep score by star count.
Wishful thinking and smoke blowing going on here.
How about those coaches who know everything is fine come out and provide a little info to the folks who have some vested interest in the program? Not too much to ask. The whole thing is pretty depressing if you ask me. The way it looks to us is a complete fail. At least compared to our standards.
Trust in Bob. I know.
I put our 14 against Texas's 14 and bet we win... again...
Look after reading all this stuff the past few weeks.... I just one thing,,,,,,,, for this team to come out and beat A&M..... we gotta have some momentum moving forward....
i will grant you that we don't have the extent of the information that the coaches have regarding these players
however, and maybe you don't notice these things but, you can easily look at our depth chart, this years performance, and our incoming class and make a logical complaint about how we are missing on areas of need
making a sweeping generalization about how no one who complains knows what they are talking about is you doing the same thing that you are bitching about
the coaching staff is missing on recruits, point blank. we are not having a good recruiting season to this point, period.
do we have all the facts? no. but it is easy to see OU is under performing on the recruiting trail in a big way
"The way I figure it, everyone takes a beating..."
Lets truly hope that the coaches don't care what we think or say. Most of our group are complete egotistic idiots that know nothing about college football and what it takes to be successful at that level. If you go to the sooner scoop board, you will find that 75% of the members of that site are constantly, ALONG WITH THE SITE ADMINISTRATORS URGING THEM ON, BASHING OUR COACHES AND EVERYTHING THEY DO. I truly wish that something could be done about that site as it is nothing more than an anti OU site.
Vested interest in the program??? I would imagine the coaches who their livelihoods, reputation, career and future have a vested interest in the success of the program. Which includes recruiting and player development. As a fan, we have an interest in the program, not sure a vested interest. I like any wish OU had more DT and OL that were committed. But for the last 12 or so years Stoops and Co have made OU one of the winningest programs in college football. Until that changes and will continue to support with my donations, time and game attendance. But at the end of the day, being a fan does not define me.
Good post overall.
You might want to try another telephone number - Stoops returns the calls at the number I use.
I think it is the way OU ended up at 10-2 this year that bothers most fans. The disturbing, -uh-oh - start of the season play at UTEP (could not stop their running back - cramps finally did him in. If he did not cramp-up, who knows what would have happened) and of course the game turning turnovers at home against KSU still sticks in most people's minds I would wager. The late game turnovers in the ND game have probably faded, but was a momentum shifter in my memory of the game.
So, most fans probably think OU should have been at least 11-1 this year if not 12-0 (at this point) and were disturebd at the confused look to the team's play on the field, inserts of the Belldozer package at times that appeared to make no sense and just killed the offense's momentum, defensive play that appeared wholly substandard - players out of position, bad attempts at tackling, etc.
Having said the above, it does not appear recruiting was the issue. More of a timing, getting on the same sheet of music type of issue is what I saw over the year. Given the inuries and other issues (suspensions), I think OU came out very well this year.

Do you understand what vested means? The answer is yes, we are all financially and/or emotionally vested to some degree or another in the success of the program. If we weren't we wouldn't be wasting our time on sites like this.
I do agree with your random point that being a fan does not define me either. Not sure how you got to a place that you felt this needed to be clarified.
That's the spirit!!! Bash our recruits! Yeah, someone get the pitchforks!
These kids made a huge decision for their future and chose OU. They don't deserve to be treated like scrubs. It's absolutely pathetic how our "fans" are treating this class. It's a class full of tough kids, class acts and an under the radar class. If I remember correctly the past two years everyone has bitched saying we had too many egos and needed tough blue collar kids and more local kids who want to be Sooners. Well, this class is it and everyone is being disrespectful as hell towards it. Pathetic, embarrassing and disgraceful.
I agree with ab5sr. If we were to scrimmage now we would get killed as we have no defensive tackles or offensive linemen to block for them!
Nor should they give a hoot about what we think.
I do know the definition of vested. Perhaps we have different perspectives . I am glad you agree with a portion of what I wrote. That was good to hear.
First of all..quit crying! Second ..is mack brown a genius? He's a coach ..he must know more than all of us..right? Anyone can see we are soft on the lines ..it doesn't take a college coach to figure that out. Some of you have major insecurity issues.

On this board you must agree with everyone or you're wrong.
Soft on the lines:
Let's see OU gave up 14 sacks all year.
Averaged 341 passing yards per game.
3rd down conversions 5th in the country.
Rushed for 165 yards per game.
I'd say the O line would have to be OK and not soft and considering how beat up and short handed they were - get the point!
The D Line that's different.
Torched 3 of the last 4 games rushing.
Passing allowed 51% completions - rush and dbs contribute to that - yes?
Sacks - 24 for the year. Less than 1/2 of the number 1 team Stanford at 56.
Tulsa was number 2 thereby making their D-Line harder than OU's - so why don't go root for the golden hurricane and bring negative wave you always have for all things Sooner to Tulsa. Just asking.
You might want to hold that thought until the signing date is over. OU is a long ways away from a full class right now.
Noblemark, your post makes more sense than any other that I have read.
