CORPUS CHRISTI - An assistant football coach for Orange Grove ISD was arrested Tuesday afternoon for reckless driving and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
Not the kind of publicity that Rhett needs.

He is going to run out of job options... not good for a coach.

Was Brent Rawls in the back?
I don’t know that much about this from that article but if it’s what it sounds to me like it was I could give him a pass on this. It said that the cop car was at the crosswalk with his reds and blues on. Now this is where it’s not real clear. If the cop was out of his car directing traffic it’s one thing if he just pulled up to the crosswalk and turn on the reds and blues it’s something else.
It doesn’t say that he was speeding when he went around the cop car it just said he went around the cop car. The question would be how many of us when we are driving would stop behind a cop car that’s on a traffic stop or handling some kind of situation on the side of the road.
I don’t know how it is in Texas but I can tell you that in Nevada they use traffic cops as a form of taxation for the most part they aren’t out there taking care of safety issues they are out there to make money. In Nevada the speed limit in a school zone is 15 MPH if you click a radar gun at 16 MPH you are getting a ticket. They have anywhere from 2 to 6 cops working the school areas every day. My guess is that they hand out anywhere from 50 to 100 tickets a day during the school year. That’s somewhere between 5K and 20K a day in fines.
Also in this state they run a trap at crosswalks. They will have somebody standing on the curb at a crosswalk as you are about to cross the crosswalk the guy will steep off the curb into the gutter. He is then in the crosswalk according to the law and you just got a hundred dollar ticket. Why would they do that you might ask and the answer would be very simple. Five traffic units writing 5 tickets an hour for seven hours a day, one day a week, $100 a ticket equals about $910,000 a year in revenue.
This could be some kind of sting and if so I’ll give him a pass. Now if he endangered kids in a crosswalk that would be something else altogether. I just would need more than what I’ve read here to throw him under the bus on this deal. You would think that after throwing away so much potential that he would have grown up a little by now but I guess you would have to know him to be a judge of that.
I actually liked Bomar, he had a fire to him.
Another Best that never was to me.
.........wouldn't it be interesting if bomar turned into a hotshot coach, had some great players, and we were trying to recruit them
Hahaha, it's a small world and you gotta know that crazy grudges abound...
