If we beat TCU next week and KST beats UT, will we be Big 12 Co-Champs with KST? But KST get's the automatic BCS bid because they beat us head to head right?
Just want to clarify this.

We could also print STATE OF OKLAHOMA CHAMPIONS if we want.
Maybe UT wins that one.
I agree it would be a bullcrap title.... how can the coaches even think about accepting rings or claiming to be co champs with the team that beat them at home? now if kstate loses, thats a different story
KSU needs to lose!
Who knows how the bi-polar morons at UT will play. Based off TCU odds are not good.
I certainly respect the sentiment and mostly agree. However; K-State's only loss is a dismantling by Baylor, a team that we defeated. That's what presents the problem in a non-championship game scenario.
although I agree with you on it being aggiish to accept the co championship ring. I hate to deny our players something they earned through hard work and determination.
How is earning a co-championship in a BCS conference embarrassing?
This line of thought is embarrassing and diminishes the hard work of the players and coaches.
This is the same thing we make fun of other schools for. I really hope we don't acknowledge co-champs.
You guys crack me up....Embarrassed? Why should any poster be embarrassed? You guys slip into a uniform over the weekend? You going to the store and feel like you need to cover up your OU logo shirts? People snickering at you behind your back?
It's the freaking rules of the league. Hell KSU lost to a cellar team...why should they claim a title...it's the rules of the league! OU has claimed several CO-championships over the years.
How is it embarrassing? It's not like OU would be doing this on their own.... this would be acknowledged by the league! All the other scenarios, where we made fun of other teams, were not instances where a "co-championship" was acknowledged by the league. If there was a Big 12 championship game and Kansas St beat OU out to go then yes it would be embarrassing if OU claimed a "co-championship," not the case here.
IN mnay of years past OU's great teams WERE co-champs....its not like someone claiming NORTH DIVISION champs...nothing to be ashamed of, and if OU can shut down TCU's defenseive grip, AND texas doesnt help us (fat chance) Bob will have another championship, shared, and the losing head to head only affects the autobid.
If we had been beat by any team but KSU I could see the co thing. Being KSU beat us or we gave it away, any way you want to put it, I don't see how we could say in good conscience that we are equal to KSU or we are co-champs. Reeks of Texass.

Exactly right! Two teams with the same record have ALWAYS finished as co-champs! The tie breaker is only used to decide who represents the conference with the automatic BCS bid.
If we tie K-State and claim a co-championship, it would be no different than the Big 8 championships we have been claiming for years in 1976 and 1978. In both years we lost to the teams that we ended up being tied with, but yet they are two of the 43 conference championships we claim. If we tie K-State, we will receive a Big 12 championship trophy from the league office.

Sorry soonersarge, but it's the league rules not yours. When texas was trying to claim co-champions it was not recognized by the league because there was a championship game. If there was a championship game and OU was not playing and trying to claim a co-championship then yes it would "reek of texas"
Frankly, Stoops stated in his post game presser yesterday that "We are going to go down to TCU and play for a Big XII Championship". In other words, he is already getting his team motivated that next week indeed is for a conference title.
This is a pretty goody thread. We always play by the rules. If the Conference prrovides that we are entitlerd to a Co-title, then we will have earned it and that throphy belongs in the Switzer Center. Period.
But with that said, we really need the conference championship game back. Settle one champion on the field.
Does it really though? If you have a 12-0 team vs an 8-4 team in the game and the 8-4 wins are they really the champion?

I'm interested in your suggestions if you have a better way, especially since teams with differing records also play differing schedules.
So by your logic the major league sports should cancel championship games and sims award the trophy to the team with the best record at the end of the year? Is this really what you want?
