Honestly I'm a fan of the 4-3 but we don't play it anymore and even when we play nickel we don't use real linebackers. Why not the 3-4? If one of our DT's could man up and be a NT Russell, Wade, Phillips fit this mold. Then the other two DL's have to be strong and a tweener so to speak. Anderson, Dimon, Chuka, and Tapper all fit this. They don't have the quick twitch of an elite d end in my opinion outside of maybe Tapper but are strong players that can anchor. Then at outside linebackers you have tweeners that are long and rangy pass rushers. Grissom, Chaz Nelson, Obo, Onuoha, Franklin and Cory Nelson would have a chance here as well as Jordan Evans and possible Ward but I like the opportunity to move him to inside linebacker. Inside linebacker you have Frank Shannon, PL Lindley, Rashod Favors, DJ Ward these are strong downhill run stoppers with little pass responsibilities except dropping to middle zone. It would be a nice base defense and different players can come in on different situations at linebacker. Not saying this is what we should do and I know we won't but it is an interesting possibility. I know we would be a little thin in personnel to go to this scheme but it could work. It definitely gives a defense more options, more disguises, and the pressure would never be predictable as anybody could blitz at anytime. Again I'm a fan of the 4-3 but many college and pro teams have had success with this defense. Just trying to start conversation. Any thoughts? Pros? Cons?

My major con is we have noone that has any experience coaching it. I have heard rumblings about switching to a 3-4 though

It's probably gonna happen....look for the switch
It would be a nice change up to what the other teams in the conference are seeing, but you would have to have a really good nose tackle.

That is my fear that we don't have a difference maker that could play that NT position
