Oklahoma is always looking for great athletes to play in the defensive backfield. Not only do they have to have the size and speed but the ability to grasp the defensive schemes that Coach Brent Venables installs. One such athlete is Colin Blake of San Antonio, TX.

Blake has great size at 6-3 and has great speed as he runs a 4.38 forty. When asked, he said that there are currently eight schools actively recruiting him at this point. Baylor, California, Michigan State, Missouri, TCU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. Blake says that if he would have to come up with a top five it would consist of Oklahoma, TCU, A&M, and Tech.

OU has had some success recently in San Antonio and hopes that they can land Blake’s signature for the 2012 class. He is a very athletic corner that excels in pass protection but is also a hard hitter. “I like to bait the Quarterback into thinking his guy is open and I have excellent closing speed so I can go up and take away the pass and I have the speed to take it back the other way for six!” Colin says that academics are very important to him and that Oklahoma is a place where he can see himself playing. “I really like Oklahoma and I like the way they attack on defense. Coach Martinez is the one recruiting me and I really like him.”

Blake plays mainly defense at Brandeis but says that that he plays wide receiver on occasion also. “Oklahoma told me that they want me as a DB and I am okay with that because that is really where I want to play.”
Blake is on pace to qualify.
