Bob Stoops high water mark has been reached

  • I think the Bob Stoops era has reached it zenith. The energy and fire and aggressivness of his earlier teams is noticiably lacking in his recent teams.

I think when he got to OU he was desperate to win and make a name for himself and he was the engine that drove the car and now he seem content with letting other things drive the car.

I think he is a great coach but his teams do not play with the same zest his teams played with from 1999 -2004

The attrition to the coaching staff has hurt greatly Leach, Mangino, Mike Stoops being gone from that first staff has been felt.

Every year the same things pop up special teams poor play almost every game, penalties, lack of a running game, no emotion or flat players, no innovations that create excitement, the 10 pt lead is safe run the ball up the middle approach, the always telling fans that everything is good when everyone can see there are problems not being addressed( lack of d line depth, LB lack of size, etc..)

Tonights game was, while not a loss, cannot be viewed as a positive step for this team. it is back to the drawing board. WHY NOT LET Bell throw a few passes at the end of the 4th qtr. We are one sack away from him having to play and THROW alot. Just very shortsighted..

There will be no more national championships because our lack of o line play and d line play is not the caliber of the teams that win it.

  • Hard to argue with you after the turd we floated out there tonight. But I hope you are seriously off base as far as the staff is concerned.

  • I think he can still coach and he still wants to win but things are way too cozy for everyone involved. Stoops, Castiglione and Boren are way too buddy-buddy. It's good to have a healthy fear of your boss.

  • Our running backs are equal to the best in Div 1. We need folks to block for them up front. I think we need to overhaul the entire run blocking scheme.

  • We need to go the I formation more. Alex Ross is the most talented back on team. Use his strengths which is running from the I. Stop this awful offense that I watched last night. This could be a long year for the Sooners.

  • Stoops is a good, solid football coach who will keep OU known as a top ten type of program. However, OU is no longer an elite program. I am not sure what the answer is to regain that staus other than go out and get better players. I also believe that for whatever reason that players are not being developed as well as they were in Stoops' early tenure. Better temper the expectations as OU is not going to be in the national championship hunt anytime soon.
