  • Our team is not very good, and it is apparent. Our point guard struggles to get the ball up the court, and it's painful to watch his passes to the wing get picked off.

Lots of big dunks and layups against the Sooners this year... will only get worse in conference play, I'm afraid.

  • Since you asked, our best player tonight was probably Carl Blair and like the previous poster said, he made turnover after turnover. He would dribble the ball up, no one on our team would move and he'd eventually get pressured and turn the ball over. I have no idea what kind of offense we run. I have no idea what kind of defense we run for that matter. We have no identity. THe most positive things i have seen said about this team is they hustle , so that makes them better than last years team. Why wouldn't they hustle? Just because TMG and Gallon were prima donnas who didn't hustle, doesn't mean its a good thing when others do. 11 games in thats not really a positive anymore. We have no inside game whatsoever outside of Fitz, and he's about 6'6" and is usally on the court with 4 guards. Cade Davis hasn't improved in his 4 years on campus. He's still a nice backup who can get hot from time to time in LNC, but he does try so hard and i respect that. His free throw shooting keeps getting worse each year. Nick Thompson is really good at fouling guys really hard when they have an uncontested layup(usually the result of yet another turnover). Steven Pledger is labeled a 3point shooter. I beg to differ. Apparently even though we are building for the future, our HC doesn't think we should maybe give Neal and Newell some minutes to help find out what kind of future they have. CJ Washington is a pretty good rebounder and tries hard on the glass. Cameron Clark had another highlight reel dunk, but is still so dang raw and out of control at times. He still has a long ways to go to become a winning basketball player. Looked like about 34 fans showed up to watch the team play tonight. I dread watching this team play, i hate it and i get no enjoyment out of it, but they are my team and i refuse to not watch them play. I think that about covers it.

  • The same thing we do every night Pinky......

  • no size, no scorers leads to many losses.

  • Hybl nice descriptions. I was at the ford center tonight in section 106 lower level. It was hard to watch. Our team is so outclassed talent-wise. We played like shit tonight and yet could have won against an overrated Cincy team. Cade was not in this game and our pg Blair has no handled. We have poor ball movement and lack size. Our shooting is well above averagebvg

  • I think its coaching...... I have seen many non-talented teams in my days of coaching select basketball in Texas. But even when they would lose you could walk away and say that they were well coached but they did not have the athletes to win the game.

I think we got the wrong coach from VCU and I am not saying that Capel will not win at OU. But I do not think he was the guy that made VCU a good secondary team.

Just my opinion and I will back any coach that the suits hire at OU.........

  • Hybl is right. Our guys tried hard and to be honest, the Cincy coach should be upset that they didn't score 100. We were way overmatched, it was a very ugly game.

That being said, they are my team and always will be. I am confident that Joe C will figure out what we need to do to fix our program. In my opinion, it starts with getting some fan interest, good or bad..

  • you get what you pay for and when you buy cheap then you get cheap OU/JoeC should have been willing to spend the necessary money to get a name coach but alas they did not and this is the product the fans are expected to accept.

  • I really like Capel 'the man' but I am truly beginning to have my doubts about Capel 'the coach.' I know he put good teams together while at his last school...but, he has hasn't had very much success since being at OU.

  • I watched us last night for the first time this season from start to finish. First half we had no semblance of offensive structure that I could see. Second half was a little better with some better off the ball movement and some middle dribble drive penetration but only a little better. Defensively, we play little off the ball help and stand flat footed. This team has no size and also cannot hit the three with consistency, a bad combination. Hybl is right, it gets much worse as the season goes along. The old saying is that the opposite of love is not hate it is apathy. And it would appear that is where we are in men's basketball right now.

  • This is my team as well and I pain to see the product this University has put on the court both from a talent perspective and from a group that plays with a sound foundation and fundamentals. Our team plays with neither.

Coach Capel may be a good guy but he is not a D1 level coach at least not now. Our bb program had taken a nose dive and it will be several years before we recover - the longer Capel stays around the longer it will be for us to get back to where we used to be.

    Only1Oklahoma

  • Seems like everybody is seeing exactly the same thing. The talent level though is way below any time I have watched OU basketball. By the way I am 46 and have watched OU for at least 30 years. Capel did well as a coach the one year he had talent. The problem is this will be the third bad year out of four and how is next year going to be better. The product on the floor is so bad that by conference play the stands will be empty. How do you recruit studs to a program that is in trouble with NCAA, no fan support, and getting hammered on the court?
