Anyone make the trip up?

  • Seeing some Mountaineer fans talking about the great time they had with Sooners before and after the game. Just wondering if anyone on here was able to attend. If so, I hope you had a blast and make your way back. Sorry WVU sucks so bad this season. That's what happens when you hire an offensive coordinator that has no business leading a team, and then he hires a defensive coordinator that was passed up for the same position 3 times in 10 years at Oklahoma State.

Anyway, congrats on the win. I'm sure there will be many more classics between the two.

  • I went to the game it was in my top 3 road game of all times and I have been everywhere! The fans were great... before, during and after! I hope OU will show them the same hospitality. We hung out at this local bar called Mario's Fishbowl and the WV fans were great! Played Boomer Sooner after they sang Take me home country road. Oliver Luck came in sat at our table told a lot of good stories had a beer with us. Said, Andrew and Landry are very close talk a lot about football and life. Great old time sports bar..
A few things, they don't sell out their stadium, but its nice and serve beer and good stadium food. Not as loud as I though it would be. If you ever get the chance to go.. go! Outstanding people and the scenery is great.

I'm hell when I'm well.. And, I am never sick!

  • We had a similar experience as KMFO. The fans before, during, and after were great. We heard zero negative comments as we walked in and nothing as we walked out. The WVU fans around us were hospitable and seemed genuinely happy for us to be there...this may change after we beat them five years in a row, but for now, they were great.

They sold beer in the stadium...weird. The WVU fans we talked to said it was a compromise as they used to let everyone leave the stadium at halftime and then come back in (just like we used to do). The beers were $9 a pop too, not exactly a bargain!

The stadium is shaped weird, so the sound escapes. You can tell they added the upper decks on after the initial build, so instead of going "up," they extend out...this allows the sound to escape the stadium instead of being trapped inside. Their sound system and display's are horrible, but maybe after they start getting the Big XII money cut, they'll upgrade them.

Overall, great trip. As I mentioned, I think the novelty of us going there will probably wear down the hospitality at some point, but I'd recommend the trip up there. It is a beautiful drive in and a great little town.

  • I thought the "no beer" was some sort of Big 12 rule.....guess I'm confused?

  • Best road trip ever! Their fans were so nice and invited us to tailgate with them all day. People were constantly saying "Welcome to Morgantown." I had tickets with WVU fans all around. They wanted to win but were really friendly with us. There was a lot of good-natured ribbing that went on.
