But resisting arrest for what? Do we know?

From this report he was arrested for wanting a glass of water. My guess he said something as he was headed to the door but that would be no reason to get jumped by the "law".

It's obviously too early to pass any judgment on Peterson for the arrest. However, it sounds like there could be concrete details of the incident revealed: Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that "the incident culminating in Peterson's arrest was captured by one or more surveillance cameras."

Florio reports that Peterson was with his girlfriend and some family members at a Houston nightclub.

"Peterson wanted to get some water before he left, but an officer told Peterson that he needed to leave," Florio writes per a source. "Some words apparently were exchanged, but Peterson eventually walked to the exit with one of the club's bouncers."

According to Florio, "one of the officers then jumped on Peterson's back from behind and tried to take him down." It reportedly took several more police officers to actually arrest Peterson.

One of the idiots, I mean officer, made a big mistake in trying to jump on Adrian's back to take him down. I have the feeling, that the DA will drop any and charges, to try save face and not make the Houston Police force look like idiots, even more.

I'm in my 60s and have been hearing all my life what jerks the Houston police are (as a group).

This won't end well for HPD. They are taught to diffuse the situation and if AD was leaving there is no situation. I am sure AD said some lovely things that pissed off the officer. You have to show more restraint than that. This was not a disorderly person or a crime being committed.

Good point, Peace. In fact, police officers "peace" for purposes of Disturbing the Peace cannot be disturbed. Because of their employment as a police officer, it is presumed under the law that they will a higher tolerance for offensive conduct by others than a lay person (ie an officer should shake it off when a person, let's say Adrian Peterson saying, "your mama's so fat, when she broke her leg, gravy came out." ) Fair or not, a police officer has to be held to higher standards by nature of their employment. If the reports are true that AD and the police officer were separated and AD was leaving, I don't even see that a valid basis for an arrest existed because there had been no crime committed (in this case, a misdameanor) and the officer had probable cause to further detain or go ahead and arrest AD. One other thing, the very nature of the charge-Resisting Arrest-indicate that there was some basis for AD to be detained or arrested (ie he had an arrest warrant outstanding, or the officer had probable cause). Thus, when he was arrested, he resisted. If the arrest isn't valid from its inception, a person can resist an unlawful arrest (at least in Oklahoma-Texas is different and weird).
All that said, there are two sides to every story and this will play out time. The best thing AD can do is be contrite and apologize, even if he didn't do anything wrong other than being at a night club at 2:00 am. I bet he will.

happened to me one time by a power tripping officer!!!!! don't get me wrong i have several officer friends and they have a very hard job but this officer get this was black did i call racism hell know it was power tripping. anyway i was out of the tank before they even booked me and i received an apology!!!!! oh by the time the skirmish was over it took six officers to subdue me man they messed up my 500$ suit and lucasey eel boots! i guess they didn't know i was a wrestler before i was a football player : ) adrian is a good guy all and all lets keep this to a dull roar.

I'm 75 seen and been around all kinds of messes..I told my kids what my dad told me...NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS AFTER MIDNIGHT!!! Before we jump on the law and blame them let's hear all the facts..I also wonder what our take would be if this was an OSU or TEX player

Since his bond was only $1,000. I can tell you it is nothing serious. I am sure the location where he was, a very nice place, wishes it never happened.

I have lived in Houston 24 years now. Our HPD does not have a good reputation when it comes to abuse. The local coverages are writing up and reporting a case that sounds pretty good for AD
