If you are a member you can read all VIP comments, but if you are not then you can't read any of the VIP comments, but you should be able to read all those that are not checked off as VIP.
There is a black outline of a person with a check mark beside it you might have hit that icon by mistake. When you hit that all you can see is the posters you follow instead of all posts.
