5 biggest losers in the NFL draft *

  • When the Draft Gurus were asked today on the NFL network about value players and steals in the later draft rounds Charley Casserly gave his take on Chris Givens the WR taken the Rams. Casserly said "this gives Sam Bradford an immediate weapon to stretch the field. Givens is an accomplished NFL ready who many NFL Scouts graded as a possible late 1st round pick." If the Rams can find an offensive tackle through a trade or the remaining free agents, they will have done a nice job in upgrading both their offense. They already got a quality center through free agency. They have really upgraded their defensive backfield Jenkins was ranked ahead of Gilmore and 2nd only to Claiborne as a db prospect. The Rams say they are going to check on him everyday hopefully with this short leash Fisher can keep him on the straight and narrow, the DB from Montana taken in the 3rd round was also rated as potentially late 1st round And with Brockers they have a great defensive Interior linemen to go with the quality D ends. The NFL network guys (all former players, scouts, coaches or personnel guys) were far more upbeat about the Rams draft picks than were the reporter types

Strike Randy Moss off your list. He only went to Marhsall since Florida State kicked him out for weed. Before that I believe he was suppose to be at Notre Dame also, and Marshall was the only one that took him since his talent was already known

Main point is that they could have had Ruben Randle an lsu player that Oklahoma actually recruited to play with Sam. Those other guys would not have even seen the field here at OU.

So there really was no investment on their qb with their offensive picks except for the rb.

OK, throw Moss off and add these....

    Charlie Joiner - Grambling St.
    Donald driver - Alcorn St.
Rod Smith - Missouri Southern St.
    Jimmy Smith - Jackson St.
    Gary Clark - James Madison
    Isaac Bruce - Memphis

There's a lot of others as well.

Have you seen Quick's tape?. If he had qualified for an NCAA Div 1 school, he'd have played anywhere. Just because he isn't a name player doesn't mean he's not talented. Jerry Rice wasn't even taken in the draft and turned out to be the best WR the NFL has ever seen. The number 1 and 2 receivers taken that year turned out to be one year wonders and quickly forgotten. Givens is a Kendall Wright clone. The Rams improved their interior OL in free agency and probably will add one of the remaining free agent linemen or make a trade for one by the time the season starts. Fischer knows how to build a team and he knows he has to give Sam the weapons and the protection he needs in order to take the Rams to the next level. I respectfully disagree with the CBS Sports analysis.

Proof is in the pudding, we will see!!
