2012 Big XII Projections

  • How does everybody see the Big XII shaking out next year? Here is my early projected order, although I haven't put a ton of research into it thus far. Just thought it would be fun to see what everybody thinks. I'm assuming WV will be here next year. I can see 2-6 being fairly close, and 7-10 close as well. I think OU has a significant advantage with Landry coming back and a whole off season to work in the new receivers. I have a feeling we have some play makers coming in this class at that position.

    1 OU
    2 TCU
    3 K State
    4 WV
    5 Texas
    6 OSU
    7 Iowa St
    8 Baylor
    9 Texas Tech
    10 Kansas

  • I have been thinking about the same topic. Can't argue with what you have....although I would move K-State down several spots (they can't win that many close games again), and I think OSU might be one or two spots higher. But pretty much agree with your assessment!

  • OU
    WV
    TCU
    TX
    KSU
    OSU
    TT
    ISU
    BU
    KU

    kwest2

  • kwest, i agree with your order pretty much, though I fear TX may be back. Also, I don't see anybody getting through that round-robin undefeated. Say what you will about the SEC, but that is a tough road!

  • Yep, tougher conference now than this past year. You could move tx above tcu and I wouldn't argue.texas will have a great d as usual and I think their o will be better.

  • OU (Worries are at WVU,TCU and Bedlam)
WVU(If they are in the Big 12 next year, they could win it all,but I don't think so in their first year)
KSU (I have a hard time doubting quite possibly the best coach in history)
TCU (I hope this is not the first game of the year like it was originally planned)
OSU (I really think they will be at least 5th with a new qb)
BU (Assuming the Heisman winner is not back)
    UT (Great defense, no offense)
KU (New coach and qb-should be improved)
ISU ( Love the head coach and his win over boone st,)
TTU (Going south like in last and I love it)

  • Hard to tell because we don't know for sure if W Va gets in this season and what the schedule will look like. Here's my take:

    1) W Va-just can't stop that offense.
    2) OU-Depends on improvement on defense and a better running game and where and if we play W. Va.
    3) TCU-Could be the deciding game. Will be a toughie for the Sooners. Biggest game in Amon Carter in quite awhile.
    4) Texas-They could move up if they get their JUCO QB or if Ash improves. Their defense will be very tough and their running game with Gray will be improved.
    5) OSU-They've convinced me they've moved up-but not that far quite yet.
    6) Baylor-Losing RG3 (very, very likely) moves them down. He made them a very good team. But they supposedly will play both OU and Texas on the road.
    7) Texas Tech-Better on defense and most of their offense is back. They could be a surprise.
    8) Iowa St.-Their coach gets more out of less. They will pull a surprise or two.
    9) Kansas-They are already waiting for the 2012 BB season.

Are you saying that Bill Snyder is possibly the best college football coach in history??

Agree with #4 assuming Gray stays healthy. I understand he gets hurt a lot. As for us, we win it all if we can run the ball with some authority. If not, then not.

    Cover 2

  • I'll take a stab at it:

    1) OU (7-2)
    2) WV (7-2)
    3) TCU (7-2)
    4) Texas (6-3)
    5) O-State (5-4)
    6) K-State (5-4)
    7) Tech (3-6)
    8) Iowa State (3-6)
    9) Baylor (2-7)
    10) Kansas (0-9)

  • Here is my guess:
    1. OU - With the new WRs coming in will improve the offense. If the defense plays like it should.
    2. WV - If OU's defense is not up to par then WV could win it or go as far down as 4th.
    3. TCU
    4. K St
    5. fexas
    6. osu
    7. Iowa St
    8. Tx Tech
    9. Baylor
    10. KU
