  • Hyundai Santa Fe

Leather, seat heaters, blue tooth, 10 yr 100,000 mile warrantee

Everyone I know that has one loves it. We traded in ours for a Toyota Highlander hybrid. The Toyota rides better....but wish we had the Santa Fe back.

I have never had a Honda, but I have never met anyone that regretted having one.

  • Maybe look for something used - could get something really nice with low mileage in that price range.

Used? You could try my wife. Low mileage since the kids were born.

Not too many dents or dings (though slightly dingy)

When her menopause kicks in she can heat up a seat very quickly

I think we can definately work out a deal in that price range.

I don't know what value Kelly would put on her.......but she has a very respectable 401K and she has recently discovered my secret play money stash....dang.

I don't mind you kicking the tires but if you test drive it you buy it!

  • Such good things are being said about Hyundais - the warranty is top notch.

The Equinox is a good car (we have two here at work); the Traverse is also waaaaay cute.

If it were me, though, I would go to Sewell Lexus off of Mockingbird in Dallas and buy a certified preowned RX. You can get a fully loaded one (without nav) and low miles in that price range. My boss has been driving his since 2000 - still looks and drives like it is brand new. Talk to Kristen Reid - she is the best.

  • I'll throw out another vote for the Honda Pilot. We bought ours last June and I've never been happier with a vehicle. We went with the 4WD Touring model... sticker was 41K but we were able to get them down to around 37. I know the models without RES and 4x4 go for much less. Plenty of room, good gas mileage when compared to other SUVs.

This. Look at used Lexus, 4Runner, Honda. It lets you go with a certified vehicle wih any package you would want.

  • This one will be in the mix when I pay off my curent Honda.

They brought the dude from Audi over so their has been a pretty decent shift in design.

  • I will throw in a vote for the RX. We bought one new in 2005, with the premium package. We now have about 110,000 on it and have never had any issues. They seem to be bulletproof. Oh, and I will definitely unload it for 30K if you really want it :-)

  • bought the first RAV4 in Oklahoma City with the V-6 in February of 2006. It has been an excellent vehicle. I've never gotten less than 21 miles per gallon at the pump. It gets about 27 miles per gallon on the highway and will do 0 to 60 in 6.2 seconds! I have hauled a 55 inch LCD TV home laying flat in the back area with the seats folded. this vehicle has won every comparison test done by car and driver and consumer reports against comparable vehicles. If you get a top-of-the-line Limited model with leather and four-wheel-drive you will come out at less than $30,000. Don't believe the over-hyped safety concerns on this vehicle.

We looked at those and they are beautiful, ran like a champ. You got a great price too... in my negotiations I never got them below 30K.

Maybe it was the time of the year. My wife narrowed it down to the Nissan and the Ford Edge. We stopped at Nissan first and they asked what it would take for us not to go to Ford. We threw out a number and that's how we got to 27,700.

  • I am car shopping too and will be purchasing one in the next 60 days. For some reason car shopping is something I get geared up for...there is something about trying to get the best deal possible by haggling with the salesperson. I take pride in being good at it ;). I agree with what everyone has said up to this point about SUVs and I too am looking for one. I have narrowed my choices to very similar vehicles: GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox. I have looked and enjoy the two and both offer very similar options for a price that is ~1,000 different. I'm 29 and have never felt more direction to buy an American vehicle than now. I currently drive a 2009 Infiniti g35x and I love it but over the last 2 years I have started to think my next vehicle would be American and an SUV. I am no economist but buying American made vehicles can not hurt what is going on in Detroit and to a smaller degree our economy.
