  • It has been very much needed. We "non believers" have to take advantage of these days off work! Happy new year!

  • I'm not taking a shot at anything. It's strange to me that we don't get days off for other religions holidays.

It's actually quite simple why this Blessed country gets/takes Christian holidays off and not others. Contrary to many a liberal thought, overwhelmingly our nation's founding fathers were God fearing Christian men who established and rooted the supreme law of this great nation based upon one source: the Holy Bible, the word of God the father almighty. The Father to Jesus Christ, an us all, i.e. Christianity. Truly a shame our education system thinks so poorly and wrongly of the 1st Amend.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, BELIEVERS AND NON. FOR WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS

P.S. Spare me the 1st Amend arguements, I'm an attorney. Been there, done that.

  • I have no problem with what you believe or what anyone does. My only question is how a book written 2000 years ago is supposed to explain everything when the earth and life is billions of years old. The dinosaurs lived 75 million years ago. Why? If a higher being is creating a perfect life form, why not do that 75 million years ago?
And this country was designed to get away from religious persecution. Separation of church and state.

What does it mean to be god fearing? Are you telling me this there is a great higher being that is so great that people are scared of it? (for some reason is always portrayed as a white male...shocker.) if it's so great, what's to fear?

No way can this all be discussed. And conveyed in a textual, message board forum. Maybe a beer chat sometime though...

And, by the way, it seems as though you took some level of personal offense to my post. Maybe that's just how your post reads; I meant nothing personal or, persacutionist, as you may call it, by it.

The God fear you speak of is respect for God.

As for non-believers, even the devil and demons believe.

The Bible is the word of God and that's how a book written 2000 years ago can explain everything.

It don't think it discusses DNA, light years, carbon dating and such but it has everything we need to know about God and our relationship with him.

You are in our prayers. God Bless and Merry Christmas

I always have a problem with this viewpoint of history. In honor of my relatives who lived during those times, I won't forget them and what they suffered at the hands of these "God fearing Christian men".

Too bad all these good thoughts being expressed around the world don't go on all year long by everyone. Merry Christmas to you, too.

that is awesome. I've always thought that it takes more faith to not believe in Gods word, rather than the opposite.

Yes, I just worded it wrong.

I should have said, " I don't know if it does" instead of I don't think.

    I didn't mean I thought it didn't, just that I didn't know

It's not even worth arguing about. You have chosen to make it not a part of your reality. Don't expect that to be something that people who have chosen to make it a part of their reality to understand. Remember, you create your own reality.

  • Don't thank us Christians. It was Jesus who gave his life while carrying the burden of all our sin. We really need to spend more time thanking him. With regard to that, it is not a day off, nor should there ever be, although I have taken some off myself. Great thing about it, He never gives up on me or anyone else. For that, I am truly thankful.
