Although 12 hours is a little ridiculous, I guess you've gotta make the cutoff somewhere. I can see the reasoning behind it because there are schools where they hold the boys who play football back a year or start them late in order to let them to be a little bigger and older than they boys that they'll play. Especially during the younger years that one year will make a difference.

It's not like he's 27 and has played professional baseball and is now playing CFB with 20 year olds. ;)

Gotta cut it off somewhere. If they let him play, then the next kid to come along that is 24 hours older than him will say "It's only 12 hours" and so on and so forth. He's 19 going into his Sr year. This kid may be slow mentally and small physically but if you open this door then you are opening up the Tony Jefferson's and Trey Millard's to be playing high school when they will be freshmen or sophmores.

States vary on their cutoff dates for starting school. When my oldest started to school in Oklahoma, the cutoff date was in October. He turned 6 during KN. My daughter started to KN in texas, with its Sept 1st cut-off. She was always the youngest in her class.

It affected there choice of teams all through school - some leagues are based on the grade level and some on the date of birth. It is what it is.
