Link to Political Issues Quiz, Post Your Results

  • This could be interesting. Post results to the quiz. It's 20 Questions...

Instructions: It's a good idea to click the links for each policy question to see what they consider "Strongly agree", "Strongly oppose" etc. When you score the quiz it will tell you which 2012 potential candidate you most closely agree with. It will also give you a political affiliation at the very bottom.

I'm a "Moderate Libertarian Conservative" and Rudy G was my closest match.

It's not the most in depth or accurate so take with a grain of salt.

EDIT: If it's not working for you, try Internet Explorer, sucks I know

Thanks for that, Mav. I wish it were more comprehensive to get a more accurate reading, but it is still interesting and telling. I like it.

I wonder how this would shape elections if people had to study all the pertinent issues and then answer them on a questionnaire ballot which would automatically choose the candidates for them.

This would at least make the issues themselves and not the candidates or political affiliations the core focus.

This would be a much more effective way of voting then the current system. The only flaw I see off the top of my head is the human element in choosing the candidates based upon leadership qualities. Somehow that could be incorporated into vetting system.

As for me, (and I didn't realize you could get more details on each question) it said I would vote for Ron Paul and that I am a hard core libertarian.

I wasn't suprised by my closest match , were you?

  • The quiz has me as a moderate conservative and lists Gingrich and Giuliani as my top two.

Moderate conservative is how I would describe myself and these two are actually my first two choices. Pretty cool.

    OU_dup

  • I'm a Conservative-Leaning Libertarian. My votematch result is no surprise...Ron Paul at 80% (81% social, 79% economic).

In a distant 2nd is Jim DeMint at 43% (19% Soc, 58% Eco), then Gingrich 3rd at 40% (19% Soc, 54% Eco), and it drops even further to Huckabee in 4th at 33% (25% Soc, 38% Eco).

According to the results, I believe in tolerance for different people and lifestyles, believe in personal responsibility for your financial matters, and that free-market competition is better for people than central planning by the government.

  • Moderate libertarian conservative. That is about right.

  • I was actually surprised about my closest match, Rudy G. Mostly because I had no idea about his politics.

What I am most surprised about is how close to the center most of us seem to be. I thought it would be much more extreme one way or another.

    soonermaverick

  • Moderate Conservative, and I'm closest to Ron Paul.

I'm only 53% aligned with him though, so I guess I'm a bit out there.

I thought there were problems and bias with parts of the quiz though.
For instance. there was a question about welfare when the only choices were "government should be in control of welfare" or "government should give money to churches to be in control of welfare."

There was no anti-welfare in general option.

Yep. I left that one as "no opinion." I also left the free trade as "no opinion" because the argument against it says that jobs will not be shipped overseas, when that isn't the problem. It's the dadgum corporate taxes and regulation on businesses that drive them out of the US to other countries.

  • I agree that people should have to do something like this before voting. Maybe like an entrance counseling. If you take the time to vote, you can take 10 more minutes and get a recommendation based on your actual beliefs.

Of course, there's way too much red tape and bias to ever let it happen. It's ludicrous to think that there are usually only 2 candidates with a realistic shot at winning. It's not like there are only 2 schools of thought in the entire country. It would be nice to see an election that had 5 candidates with only slightly different amount of the vote. Having a new gender/race/religion as president might be progress, but having an election where 5 people got an almost equal share of the vote would be REAL progress.

So, in summation, abolish political parties.

    soonermaverick

  • Libertarian Leaning Conservative

Jim DeMint was my #1 with Ron Paul #2.

Rudy G was my least compatible Republican, no surprise...

I said it before, but I think the basis of this is a great idea. Doing away with the parties could not happen taking it head on but it could just fall apart in time as it became apparent that party affiliation was unnecessary.

I don't think it would have to be required or done at the voting booth but simply made available 30 days prior to elections so that people could study it, fill out the questionnaire and see the results. This would provide lots of opportunity for people to then share their results with others maybe even generating more voter interests in the process.

We need to circulate a petition or something. Why Don’t you get started on that , Mav. You could go down in history as the man who changed the face of politics in America!

You probably wouldn't want my name to be at the top of the list but I'll sign it somewhere. LOL

I'm more of a typical American, let someone else deal with that headache. I just wanna go on a message board, rant and rave from the comfort of my overpriced office chair, b!tch about things that I'm mostly ignorant about, and look at weight loss websites while I suck down some sweet DP and gobble up some trans fats.

(Up vote for anyone who plays the guy from Goundhog Day and posts, "Pretty much sums it up for me")

Well, okay. It's just that judging by your photo, it looks like you're a trim and slim kinda guy.

But seriously, I have tried to get "thing's going before and it is very difficult. Apathy and ignorance are very huge obstacles. As long as you do not ask someone to do anything, they can give a long dissertation on the state of the union and just how they'd fix it.

    Interesting...

It has me as a Conservative Leaning Libertarian but Ron Paul is WAY down my list.

My first match is Sam Brownback 55% (44% 63%) and Rudy is second at 48% (63% 38%).

    Rob Paul is 12th at 30% (13% 42%)

I guess it takes a lot to motivate people to take to the streets. See Egypt. In reality, I live a pretty nice life with no real reason to do anything political at all. Apathy maybe, but the flame just isnt there.

I know what you mean however, we don't need to take to the streets literally because we have the internet highway.

One of the major problems in this country is that there seems to be two basic types of people ; the ones doing pretty well who are consumed with enjoying what they have in apathy towards all others and the have nots who vote people into office to give them what they don't have.

I fall in the latter category but at least I know better than to vote for dems who buy votes off the backs of tax payers and destroy both the economy and good morals. I ran a small construction business for 25 years but had to give it up because the economy has crippled my industry. There are a few still doing well but they are the fortunate minority.

I'm hoping someone can turn the tide for America but I'm not holding my breath. I always have great hope however for the return of the KING. His government will replace all others putting them to shame. PTL
