Denver Eats?

  • Here are some places I have found:
Snooze, Denver Chophouse, Steubens, Jack n Grill, Buckhorn Exchange, Sams no. 3, Bagel Deli, and Elways.

Any comments on these or other ideas?

  • Beware of the cougars prowling around Elways...

If you go to snooze, plan on getter there before 7:30 a.m. or you'll be waiting in line for 45 min.

  • I like the Hacienda Colorado on Wadsworth, but it's usually pretty busy.

South Denver/Littleton also has the usual franchise places in the Wadsworth/Bowles area.

My cousin and his wife like a pub near Coors Field, but I can't remember the name of it. It's just east of the right field stands. There used to be a good breakfast spot in LoDo called The Egg Shell. I haven't been able to try to find it in awhile, because my brother's wife has an egg allergy and we never eat breakfast out as a result when we're all in town in Denver.

Also, at last check, the original Casa Bonita was still open in west Denver.

  • I'm glad to see the Buckhorn Exchange is still around. I ate there quite a few years ago and loved the place. It was like stepping back into the Old West. There were animal heads on the walls and I think some prints of pictures from the 1800's.
I had a buffalo steak (which was very good, it's as good as beef) and at that time at least they also had elk and antelope on the wild game part of the menu.
The bar was upstairs and the actual bar itself dated back, I believe, to the 1890's. Hopefully the place hasn't changed any.

  • Buckhorn Exchange and Jack n Grill are two of our favorites. The chile verde at JIG doesnt live up to its billing, but they have good Mexican food and some of the best burgers and dogs I've ever eaten (weird I know).

I'll also throw out the Denver Diner... awesome late night eats.
