Fallin puts off visiting disaster areas

  • It was more important for Fallin to schmooze with Sarah palin than to visit Tushka and other storm damaged areas. She sure has her priorities straight. How do people not see that Palin is a complete joke and is just using her status to get richer and richer.

  • Palin rules!!! More power to her..

  • Is her presence going to suddenly make things better?

  • Inspire them to what? Clean up? Take some government services? Her being there won't inspire anything. If people need a politician to show up so they will feel inspired then they have bigger problems.

Also, if she showed up down there everyone would just gripe about how she's just trying to get her face in the paper...

  • Never understood why politicians need to view disasters. Stay in contact with local leaders, view video footage, make the required requests for federal aid, the end.

Not a fan of hers, not a fan of Palin, not a fan of Askins, but then again none of of these people can stop disasters or make them better by looking at a snapped tree.

I agree. I'm not a big fan of Mary or Palin. It's dumb to criticize her for not looking at tornado damage though.

  • her viewing the damage would show that she cares about our state.

As much as I love Oklahoma, the one thing that embarrasses me are our elected representatives. We aren't viewed nationally as backward and uneducated for no reason.

  • Your response to him was like you never read what he said. He talked about Oklahoma seeming "backward and uneducated", not amoral and anti-values.

When you elect Fallin, Lankford, Inhofe (many times over), etc it does on occasion make OK look bad. Inhofe's global warming fight in particular is frustrating. WIth the many serious issues facing OK he seems completely removed from the state at this point.

Coburn on the other hand is at least fighting an important battle (and has been for 17 years...long before the tea baggers).

Referring to someone as a tea bagger and not tea partier makes our state look uneducated and backward.

Nah, I've heard the term from many people that come from many states and I certainly don't represent the state of OK, but way to nitpick the most minor of points. Someone concerned with the uneducated and backward should look no further than the tea party/baggers.

And your response is as if you cannot see the BIG picture. It is written that, "that which is highly esteemed and valued among men is detestable to God". While education has it's place and some value it is not to be compared to the value God places on the hidden person of the heart. This very much has to do with one's morals, values and integrity.

Therefore when the topic comes up about being embarrassed about Oklahomans and their leaders, I place e highest value on the things which God does. This would be akin to majoring on the majors and minoring on the minors. This however is beyond the concept of the world because it simply rejects God and His leadership and ways. Never the less God has declared, that professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

You don’t have to look very far to see all the intellectuals battling one another and working against one another to the destruction of our country. Is it simple irony that these godless intellectuals representing we the people, who voted them in as such on our behalf, are speedily destroying the general well being of the country and the things which formerly had constituted our strengths. It is no irony at all…we are simply witnessing the reality of His words…”professing themselves to be wise they became fools.”

Also, concerning the fight against so called global warming, can you not even see that the fight is against the damaging RAMIFICATIONS that this policy is having on our perilous economy ?

I see the "big picture" and it isn't 100% the fault of "liberal progressives" as you would try and make people think. You sure use a lot of far right talking points for someone who at other times tries to say that God is the only answer and not political parties. Can't have it both ways.

Oh and don't say stupid things like "so called global warming" when you aren't prepared to back it up.

I have heard it from all over, as well. Usually, it is used to deride and discount someone that is a tea party member when the person using the slur is juvenile and uneducated. Using the term does nothing to enhance any of your arguments.

I've seen you post enough to know you are above that.

I'm not using it to enhance any arguments, I just think it's funny. I think people know I don't support the tea party and that I've given my reasons as to why and done so in a serious fashion. Just a subtle jab for my own personal enjoyment.

You absolutely do not see the BIG picture because you do not have the heavenly perspective. You cannot even differeniate between the Christian who is serving God as an ambassador and occupier while on the earth while yet looking to the coming perfect kingdom of the Lord. He is most certainly the only answer and yet He has commanded us in the mean time to remain free as long as it depends upon ourselves. He does not want us to be slaves of state as long as it is possible for us to avoid it.

I don't have to be a scientist to see that scientists do not emphatically agree on global warming. It is also easy to see that in fact, the over all climate is not "warming" and if anything most data suggests it may going through a cyclic cooling. LOL

I'm suprised you cannot see that global warming is a political tool for elitists more than anything else. Surely anyone can see that politicians are fanning the flame for a political means to an end and they have to because there seems to be no real substantial and provable cause and effect. The earth's climate has always gone in cycles and no one can prove that the current situation is any different.

I don't have the heavenly perspective? More judging and yet you still wonder why no one respects you.

Where are you getting this global warming info? The opinion you state is the opinion of the extreme minority in scientific circles. Forgive me if I get my information from people doing the actual research and not a "Christian" science website claiming the earth is only 300 years old.

Jesus said to judge not by appearance. We have to make judgments on many things everyday. That is an infantile statement about not judging. Because I know of the heavenly perspective it is easy to tell whether someone else has the same or not. Improper judgment involves malicious contempt so as to condemn others. I do not pass this kind of judgment.

You think you are the only one that is privy to scientific info ? Please... and why make mention of websites and people claiming the earth is only 300 years old? This is a childish tactic to falsely portray someone as being inferior by way of absurdity to elivate or maintain your own view of your superiority.

You do not realize how you expose yourself when you repeatedly make comments about others not liking or respecting me as it shows you place a high value on the approval and esteem one seeks from others. As Jesus said, "How can you believe, when you receive glory (esteem, respect) from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?" As Paul said, "If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant pf Christ."

  • Seriously, we need an "All Religion Thread" where all the bible thumpers can tout their knowledge of scripture against each other. I really grow weary of reading, what I believe to be a non-religious thread, only to have it garbled up with religious banter.

I understand what you are saying and yet I have a very different take on it because I believe we are all religious in the sense that we have our own subjective beliefs that we hold to which in turn govern and directs our lives to some degree or another.

Considering the fundamental definition of religion is “a set of strongly held beliefs, values and attitudes that someone lives by“. If you take the time to think about that for a minute you will see that we all abide by this general practice and that since it governs our whole lives, this makes it a very appropriate, relevant and fruitful discussion.

While I don’t mind debating and fellowshipping with others in a more spiritual setting, I think it is very important to also have some awareness of and discussion in a more common setting as well.

I think the main reason people do not want to have or see spiritual discussions in a “common area” is because they reject the truth and do not want to FACE the music, so to speak. It makes them uncomfortable because deep down they realize this is a very serious issue that MUST be dealt with. As long as it can be restricted to church buildings and inside people’s private homes or in a strictly religious board, then they can feel at ease once again, because you don’t have to deal with something that you can’t see, right?

Precisely. Too many of these threads are becoming a religious pillowfight where one person abstractly quotes irrevelant scripture passages and others retort with targeted embellishment (I, too, have been involved so I am not free of guilt).

Right, this is where you attempt to support your absurd behavior by claiming that God says its ok. We hear this every time you say something stupid.

What part of my statement makes you think I believe I'm the only one privy to scientific info?! That doesn't even make sense. You just keep blindly believing your fake science websites and I'll continue reading the results of actual research. The really sad part of this is that you don't know anything about global warming other than your far right talking points. This is made clear when you mention global warming and liberals in the same paragraph. Do some actual unbiased research for once and see what's really going on somewhere other than american thinker. Learn to form your own conclusions.
