American Idol returns tonight, anyone watching?

  • It's hard to imagine Idol without Simon, but I'm going to give it a chance. Anyone else?

Tenth season of Fox hit show “American Idol” debuts at 7 p.m. Wednesday with new judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler and sole returning judge Randy Jackson.

  • Eh, maybe. As long as there's a hate-able candidate I'll watch a little bit.

  • I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised! I really liked the new judges, I was especially surprised how good Steven Tyler was.

  • I watched the first hour and a half. Judges did well but they really lowered their standards on a few candidates. Some of those singers couldn't find the pitch and yet they were sent to Hollywood.

Overall a pretty good first show. The Asian Michael Jackson character was fascinating. I also liked the drab Boy Scout.

  • You better stick with it, at this point it looks like you are my only American Idol friend. cheers Except for the person following me around and down voting all my posts! rant

  • Well I gave you a sympathy up-vote for the negative stalker.

If my fiancee was not an Idol fan you might be posting to no one in particular. Jennifer Lopez adds a little more incentive to watch but the 'crazies' are clearly the stars of the show. The producers threw me off by starting the season with three legitimate candidates. They take away a little bit of the fun of trying to figure out who is going to be good/bad when they tip you off to it before their audition.

My viewership is not something I bring up around the water cooler at work.

  • Tyler seems to really like the way the 16yr olds dress.

Funny you said that, my husband and I were laughing about that and figure they are having a discussion with him about the rule of not sleeping with the contestants!

  • Are we talking about the State of the Union Adress?

  • Tonight was pretty good, some really talented people and the civil war guy was humorous. That last story kicked my butt, it sent me into the ugly cry! That just sucks that everything can get turned upside down so quickly.

Ps. The boy scout got his eagle rank, I saw it on TMZ. lol

  • I ccan honestly say that I have never, ever watched single episode of Idol. I remember all the fuss about the last Seinfeld episode about 10 years ago. I never watched a single episode of Seinfeld either and certainly not the last episode. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

  • You should get off this board and start watching Seinfeld reruns

American Idol Contestant Chris Medina Shares Heartbreaking Story
    http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20461214,00.html

Meet Chris Medina: The American Idol contestant's heartbreak and powerful audition on Wednesday night's show in Milwaukee touched the judges and helped earn him a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Medina, 26, told the story of his fiancée, Juliana, who was working at Starbucks when he proposed to her after dating for six years. Two months before they were to tie the knot, she was in an accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury. "Everything changed," said Medina. "We're still not married."

But Medina still cares for his fiancée with her mother.

"I was about to make vows just two months from the accident – through thick and thin, 'til death do us part, for better or worse," he said. "What kind of guy would I be if I walked out when she needed me the most?"

Medina's audition – he sang "Breakeven" by The Script – was more than enough to get earn him a ticket to the Hollywood round. But the judges were so taken by Medina's story they invited Juliana into the studio to meet her.

"I just heard your fiancé sing," Steven Tyler told Juliana. "He sings to you all the time. I could tell. That's why he sings so good because he sings to you."

Later, outside the audition room, Medina, who wears his ring around his neck, leaned over and listened to Juliana whisper something, telling the cameras, "She said, 'I knew it.' "

'American Idol' -- The Cowboy Deception
    by TMZ Staff

John Wayne is not who he appears to be ... at least, he's not the innocent, never-left-the-ranch, amateur singer he was made out to be on last night's "American Idol."

Turns out, 23-year-old John Wayne Schulz has a pretty impressive past in the music world -- a past "Idol" producers conveniently neglected to mention when they painted him as an "aww shucks" wannabe who finally stumbled off the family ranch for the first time in his life to try out for the show.

JW not only released an album by the time he was 14 years old -- one of his songs was considered for 7 Grammy nominations!!!!

The CEO of John Wayne's old record label tells Billboard.com John only recorded that one album -- explaining, "He's of Mormon faith, and he had to go on his church mission. He was gone for two years, and we just weren't able to reconnect once he returned."

Apparently, it's easier to connect with the folks over at "A.I."

  • I've been watching with the wife this season, are there always this many hot chicks who can sing? Seems like there have been a huge number of hot chicks this year.

  • They have to do something to keep the viewership up. Most people tuned in for Simon Cowell's rude but brutal honesty.

  • Interesting group this year. I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress, especially the girl tonight that had the "old timey" voice.

  • Good show tonight, a couple people sounded horrible, not sure how they even made it to Hollywood! I'm looking forward to the groups, it always brings an insane amount of drama.

Yea my wife called me in from the other room to watch her cause she was so hot.

  • There is some really talented people this year! Group night was funny, those people get so caught up in the drama they forget ultimately they are judged on their own performance.

  • I thought the guys did a good job, I really liked Casey Abrams, he has a great chance to win it all.
