  • I have seen particularly dangerous tornado watches issued and tornado emergency’s issued but I have never seen a particularly dangerous winter storm warning issued.

Is this a new type of warning?

  • What are the odds that they're overhyping this thing so they don't look like fools again by underestimating the storm like they did xmas 2009? My prediction is 73 and sunny.

    OU_dup

  • I don’t think they have a very clear idea on the exact track and timing of the storm.
When they get a better handle they will have a much better idea about the amounts and types of precipitation.

Apparently some of the weather models very greatly.
This is not likely to happen but this model shows a 20” snow for the OKC area. But if it did happen with the wind and cold they are expecting we would be stranded for days with the way they clear snow in our area.

  • I'm freaking out after seeing the weather reports, it's looking like a huge mess! I'm tempted to head towards somewhere warm and just skip the whole thing! lol

  • Expecting 8 to 16 inches in Tulsa and northest.

No need to worry 48A. They said on the news tonight they won't plow the snow until it stops snowing.

  • I hope it does dump on us. It gives me a few days off of work.

  • Reminds me of the glory days of high school, when days off for snow meant attaching something to the back of a truck and finding an open, flat field. Great times.

Nick in my neighborhood the sun is basically our snow plow.

But the neighbors have gotten together before and shovel out the bigger drifts in our streets.
A Humvee and another 4 wheel drive got stuck in a big drift in front of my house during the 2009 Christmas Eve storm. Hopefully this storm won’t be as bad but I have been thinking about what I could use for a snow fence.

I guess your neighborhood is gated?

some guys in my high school did just that...
an old car hood....in a field next to the school.....
    but then the rope broke....
and the hood slid under a row of old evergreen trees...
and there was a light pole on the other side....
and one of them died on impact....

The city of Norman doesn’t plow residential streets.
I guess I should ask my neighborhood association if we could hire a service to at least break the big drifts.
No my neighborhood is not gated but I would bet that I’m the only person living in my neighborhood who has ever been paid to operate a large snow plow

  • My neck of the woods is suppose to get rain, changing to sleet, then 1-2 inches of snow. I hope everyone stays safe if you live in the path of "near blizzard conditions"! I say better safe than sorry. Get stocked up on groceries, medicine, and whatever else you need. (this is for DM.......liquor, porn mags, etc.)

    You all stay safe!

  • Some friends and I went in on a 1974 Chevy Caprice station wagonthat we paid $250 cash for the day before the snowstorm in March '94. We built a ramp on the playground of the local elementary school the morning of the storm and took turns ramping the old wagon until the axle broke. We left it sitting there until school officials had it dragged away the next week :)

  • Looks as though my prediction of 73 and sunny might be a bit off. I hit the liquor store so I'm ready to settle in and watch the local guessers (weathermen) attempt to hide the swelling in their pants as they needlessly cut in on programming.

  • My drive to work tomorrow is going to be brutal. It doesn't help when you have a pickup riding on 22's like mine does lol!!!!!
