With the departure of James Patton to Indiana, Oklahoma must now find his replacement on the offensive line.
Might be ok? What, didn't they run for like 700 yrds against us this year?
Does anyone know his reputation as a recruiter/coach?
If true, he would be a great choice! His O-lines at the U of A were very very good. Not a bad recruiter either.
Would be a GREAT hire if true.
More Mike Stoops' former staffs are coming to town. It sounds like Bob is ready to take leave and Mike will be our next head coach.
He was a 247 Top 50 recruiter this year FWIW
He played for Mike Leach at Iowa Weslyan and was also the RB and later O Line coach for the Sand Aggies during Leach's tenure. During that time he was the position coach for seven future NFL players. Obviously he is a known commodity to both Bob and Mike.

I wonder what kind of recruiter Mangino is..i can't recall how he did when he was here...any one remember?
"Bedenbaugh get the endorsement from Coach Mike Stoops and Coach Tim Kish because he worked with them
Bedenbaugh is considered an excellent O-line coach and an excellent recruiter "
Wow, if he's as good a recruiter as kish, I cant wait.
Excuse me while I go take a
My two cents. I'll support whoever Bob brings on board. However, hiring Mangino gives me an uneasy feeling. I appreciate that Mark is a very good coach and is a good friend of Bob's. Let's not forget though that Mark did have his off the field problems at KU that ulitmately cost him his job. Maybe it was alot of bs, but the accusations weren't minor ones. Since his wife's cancer, Mark says his priorities have changed, which is good. Mark's knowledge base coupled with being more laid back might be a great asset.
My biggest problem is whether Mark would accept just an offensive line coach's job and input. We already have co-offensive coordinators. We don't need a third person whose personality may be to try and run things. Keep in mind that Mangino was Josh's offensive coordinator his senior year. Would that dynamic be workable? One thing Josh doesn't need is another voice in his ear when it's third and goal from the four yard line.
I sincerely hope Mark gets a job real soon. I just don't know if hiring him at OU is a good move at the moment.
