GREG BRYANT, RB, 5’11, 197, 4.48, DELRAY BEACH (AMERICAN HERITAGE SCHOOL), FLORIDA:

One of the very best running backs in the country is Greg Bryant of Delray Beach, Florida, who rushed for 2,100-yards and 31-touchdowns this past season. Playing at American Heritage School Bryant has run through, around and between defenders with the greatest of ease as he is easily one of the toughest running backs to tackle in the country, and in every game is a big play machine.

Bryant broke on the scene at American Heritage as an 8th grader and immediately started to make an impact in the state of Florida, and since then he has been a star running back in the Sunshine State.

“It feels real good to get to where I am now,” said Bryant. “Even though I have been playing high school football for a long time I still go into every game feeling as if this is the first game that I am playing. I love playing football and every game is a big deal to me, and I love that feeling of taking the field with my teammates and starting a game. I love winning the game and playing well and the challenge of running the football and being the best player I can be.”

Bryant is a physical specimen and runs with incredible strength, yet he has the skill to make defenders miss which makes him an elite running back that can run out of any style of offense.

“I have good speed and I love to break tackles or run through tackles,” said Bryant. “I want to be the most explosive person on the field and in just about every game I have played in I am the most explosive player on the field. It doesn’t matter what formation I am in, or what offense we are running out of, or where I am lining up as long as I get the ball it doesn’t matter how I get it. All that matters is that I get the ball under my arm and then good things are going to happen.

“I really like to break the ankles of a defender more than I like to run over him. I know I look like a guy that would rather run over you, but to be honest I have more fun making a guy miss the tackle than I do running through him. I used to work on my moves with my dad when I was little, but now I don’t think about them, they just come to me when I am running and then I will go back and look at them and say ‘wow how did I do that’.

“My moves are God given, but my dad has been working with me since I was four-years old. I have been playing football for a long time and the most fun I have is when I break a run off tackle and get by the first couple of guys, and then get into open field and just out run the rest of the defense.”

Bryant can bench 285-pounds and he squat an amazing 540-pounds. He also runs the 200M (22.9) in track and has posted a 32-inch vertical jump.

Bryant success throughout his career, his strength and is tremendous ability has earned him scholarship offers from just about every big time program in the country.

“It is just like a dream for all this to happen,” said Bryant. “I don’t let the recruiting hype or attention bother me and to be honest I am not sure how I am ranked or what everybody really thinks about me. All I know is that I just have to make sure I get the ball a lot next season and I just might end up the number one.

“It feels good to be offered by all these schools and they are from all over the country. It just makes me work harder to prove everybody right what they think of me.”

Bryant has over 30 offers and a few schools are beginning to emerge to the top of his list.

“I am really trying to keep an open mind, but I do have one school and I like USC the most,” said Bryant. “I have wanted to go to USC since I was little, and it is in Calli so there is always some good weather.

“Oklahoma is the other school that I really like right now. I always mentioned them and USC. I have a good relationship with Coach (Cale) Gundy and I like their old running back Adrian Peterson. It wouldn’t hurt to be like him. Both Oklahoma and USC run the ball real well and at both schools I can get the ball in my hands, and they will throw the ball to me out the backfield as well.”

Bryant hasn’t been to any Junior Day’s or any camps up to this point. He is going to the NIKE camp this summer and he is trying to figure out where he will go this summer.

“I want to go to Oklahoma in the spring,” said Bryant. “I want to get up to Oklahoma in March and we are making plans to get there now. I have been talking to my dad about it and we are making plans on doing it. I have been talking to Coach Gundy and they want me to come out to spring practice and watch how they do things.”

Bryant is really just starting to get his recruiting process underway, but he is developing some ideas of what he is going to be looking for in a school.

“I just want to make sure that the team that I sign with know how to run the football and that they are going to run the ball,” said Bryant. “I want the team to treat me like family and to really want me to play for them. I just want a school that will treat me like family and let me run the ball. I am not concerned with depth chart or distance from home, but I want to go to a program that knows how to run the football and wants to have a great running back on their team.”

Bryant says he is on pace to qualify.

Apparently he does not know ou from osu. I would have to seriously question his intelligence.

Very true. This board sucks these days. I used to really like it and was a paying member for years, but it has gone down hill big time. Sad.

                                • Yeah, why even have a free board when there are 10 straight blocked posts in a thread that gets posted in it? I'm fine with not being a paid member and having access to the paid board, but come on - blocked posts on the free board are just a lame, pathetic attempt to get more money.
