Oklahoma got 22 points from Romero Osby and 14 from Amath M’Baye but that wasn’t enough as the Sooners fall to Arkansas 81-78 in Fayetteville.
Oklahoma shot a season-high .554 from the field (previous high was .474 vs. West Virginia). However, the Sooners allowed Arkansas to shoot an opponent-season-high .526 (previous high allowed was .473 at Oral Roberts). OU entered the game shooting .403 and UA entered the game shooting .429.
Early on, Oklahoma took a 6-2 lead with the help of a pair of dunks by Amath M'Baye, but Arkansas answered with 7 straight points to go up 9-6. The Sooners didn't lead again until Steven Pledger hit a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left in the game to put them up 78-77.
Arkansas sophomore guard B.J. Young hit the game-winning shot with 14.7 seconds remaining. Averaging 21.4 points entering the game, Young finished with a season-low 10 points on 4-for-12 shooting. He handed out 8 assists while committing just 1 turnover.
Oklahoma is off until Dec. 15 when it faces Texas A&M in the All-College Classic in Oklahoma City. The game will start at 1 p.m. CT and be televised by ESPNU.
