OU's Romero Osby had a double-double for the Sooners
Freshman Buddy Hield scored 17 points and Romero Osby added 11 as the Oklahoma Sooners improved to 2-0 on the season with a 63-59 win over Texas-Arlington.
“It was a tough battle obviously”, said Oklahoma Coach Lon Kruger. “Probably as good as an opportunity as you can possibly get. UTA did a terrific job opening the ball game and we got down a bit but we made a good run late in the first half. We relaxed a bit in the second half and UTA made a run to make it a game that could go either way. I've watched Scott Cross' team for a long time and they were very well prepared. What they did tonight was no surprise. We are fortunate to get out with a win."
On the night, Hield was six of eleven from the field and two of four from three point range.
"Buddy was fantastic in the first half,” said Kruger. “We were down 8 or 10 and he scored every way you can. He's a good scorer and an emotional player that gets into it. He will give you a lot of good stretches through the year."
It was another solid night from Romero Osby who scored ten for the Sooners and pulled down 11 rebounds. Amath M’Baye added 7 points to the Sooner stat sheet.
Up next for Oklahoma, It’s a trip to Orlando for the Old Spice Classic over the Thanksgiving Holidays.
