NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners have found a potential immediate answer at tight end for their 2014 class.
JUCO tight end Isaac Ijalana, out of L.A. Pierce, has pledged to the Sooners as the 16th commitment and 10th on the offensive side of the ball, second tight end along with Carson Meier.
“[OU tight ends coach Jay Boulware] said that if I went to Oklahoma, that right away I could become the starter,” Ijalana said. “He said that they have fullbacks playing the tight end position right now, and that they need somebody to come in and make a big impact at that position, and I feel I am the person that can do that.”
Ijalana, a 6-foot-5, 235-pounder, is ranked as the No. 89 JUCO player and fifth ranked tight end.
He’s the No. 25 player in the state of California with his 0.8700 in the 247 Composite.
Ijalana chose the Sooners over West Virginia, Illinois and Florida Atlantic.
