NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners have earned a commitment from three-star four-technique Courtney Garnett.
As OUInsider.com first presented earlier in the evening, Garnett has chosen to commit to the Sooners, but he could still travel to Notre Dame this weekend.
Garnett is the No. 776 overall player, No. 53 defensive tackle and No. 29 player in the state of Louisiana, owning a 0.8510 rating according to the 247 Composite.
The 6-foot-2, 280-pounder was originally committed to Texas, then de-committed and had it down to OU and Tennessee before the Irish snuck in with a late offer.
But Sooner head coach Bob Stoops and defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery were able to seal the deal with an impressive in-home visit Thursday evening.
Garnett becomes the Sooners’ 23rd overall commit and second at the defensive tackle position, though Brandon Glenn is not expected to qualify.
