In one of the surprise announcements of the day, 5-star running back Joe Mixon made a rather surprising announcement he committed to Oklahoma.
Recently the news had suggested UCLA was the favored choice but in the end the Sooners won out. From previous interviews, Mixon noted the success of Adrian Peterson and the run game at Oklahoma as a major reason for his interest.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound prep is the No. 1 all purpose back in the nation per 247Sports and the 247Sports Composite. He is also ranked as the No. 10 player in the nation per 247Sports while at No. 18 per the 247Sports Composite.
Mixon is now the 19th commitment for the Sooners in the 2014 class. Oklahoma also has a commitment from Samaje Perine at running back.
The crystal ball had Oklahoma as the slight favorite over UCLA by a 2% margin prior to his announcement.
